Cult, anyone?

Cult, anyone?
I have one main point of view while dealing with religious people, which I know Aegrus disagrees with me on: that their idea is stupid, faith is stupid, and stupidity in the face of facts will not be respected in any manner. False assumptions are understandable. Clinging to these falsehoods after superior evidence has been shown to the contrary is merely bias.

Now that my position on faith is clear...

Religion is very organized, but also very fractured. Fortunately, each fracture weakens the overall structure further. A lack of belief, on the other hand, is much more resistant to fractures as there is little room for differing opinions of god amongst atheists. This is a good thing; it makes us much harder to fracture than religion.

I intend, however, mostly because I am bored, to find a cult of science, complete with parodical rituals. If my 'religious views' section of my profile change over the next few days to display the name of some strange cult or mythological deity, you can assume this is the reason. lol

Also, more people need to start new posts, because I've been staring at essentially the same topics for a week.

I once dated this guy who was the lead singer in this band... though I don't remember what it was called, but they played music with children's toys that had been altered in various ways. At each show they did something different, like once they performed a c-section of a geisha, and just all kinds of strange things. They ended up creating some kind of religion, and it had to do with a hemoglobin, but it was very elaborate. This was 8 years ago so I am way sketchy on the details, but it was brilliant. They dressed like priests, handed out pamphlets, and had me dress like a school girl and they all drank my blood after giving me their "holy protein".

I think it would be interesting. If you think about it, we are all in a cult of science... some people are just too ignorant to know it. I love science, personally. As a matter of fact, I pretty much worship it.

The closest one I'm aware of is "scientology" and the only thing it has in common with science is the first 5 letters of the name.

Scientology...

Isn't that the one where alien zombies exploded in a volcano and seeded the land with their innards?
It sounds very scientific.

Science is not directly compatible with a cult. Provisions must be made.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

I disagree. I think an occasional goat BBQ would mesh quite well with some sciencey people.

We could BBQ other "things", and it would mesh with this "sciencey" type very well.
