Easily. They were incinerating a load of books that they didn't think they needed anymore. Some of them were Korans. Do you really expect them to look through every single book they chuck out because one of them might be regarded as holy?

Seems to me some people should learn to think and not just parrot what they read without understanding it.
I'd happily burn Korans all day long.
You are currently experiencing a lucky and very brief window of awareness, sandwiched in between two periods of timeless and utter nothingness. So why not make the most of it, and stop wasting your life away trying to convince other people that there is something else? The reality is obvious.
From the article in the Guardian...
Quote:A military official, who asked not to be named, said the books had been removed from the jail library because some had added inscriptions that appeared to be in use to "facilitate extremist communications" or were extremist "in and of themselves". Sounds to me as if this wasn't exactly an accident. http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2012/feb...sfeed=true
I thought the proper method to dispose of an old koran was to burn it?
Muslims...what's the story here? (February 24, 2012 at 12:54 pm)Phil Wrote: Accidentally put it in a rubbish container? Someone is in dire need of a tin foil hat. I'm not sure how asking questions is parroting.. Unless that's directed at someone else.
Bloody nonsense. Some unneeded books were burnt, some were considered 'holy' and accidently burnt as well.
The troops may be guilty of unintentionally causing tension but I don't hold them to blame. Those religious crazies were the ones who over reacted and took lives. They should receive full blame for their actions. They over react to fucking everything. Also demanding special treatment as well. Mass murdering religious lunatics.

Mankind's intelligence walks hand in hand with it's stupidity. Being an atheist says nothing about your overall intelligence, it just means you don't believe in god. Atheists can be as bright as any scientist and as stupid as any creationist. You never really know just how stupid someone is, until you've argued with them. But if you want to see what happened (at least in part) see my previous post and go to the Guardian link. RE: Afghanistan Koran protests: Eight die on fourth day

Guardian certainly paints a better picture of what happened than the BBC. Thanks for the link RE: Afghanistan Koran protests: Eight die on fourth day
