Whats even attractive about Christianity anyway that people want to stay in ignorance

Of course. The problem here is that the religious have never been able to show that their faith is the former and not the latter.

The point of this discussion is not whether the object of one's faith is real. That's a different discussion. The point here is whether or not one's reason for putting one's trust or faith in said object makes sense. In other words, there are unreasonable reasons for trusting in atheism. For example, for one to adhere to atheism just because it feels right, is just as rediculous as believing in Buddah because it just feels right.

Yes, the point is whether or not one's faith in an object makes sense, which is exactly what I was saying religious people have consistently failed to demonstrate.

Well, if one always gets results when praying to unicorns, wouldn't it make sense for one to continue to trust in unicorns? (I'm just offering a hypothetical.)

No, it would not, because that would make the assumption that those results were anything but a trick of the mind.

I'm going to play devil's advocate and say that if I prayed to a unicorn and I ended up getting what I wanted almost every time, I would, even as a skeptic, continue doing it. I wouldn't think about why or how I'd just do it.

Faith = Trust, Mencken is confused

I'll stick with Mencken, thank you.
