Ive been wanting to read "das kapital", but everytime I look at the book (3 volumes each the size of a dictionary), I decide to wait. LOL.

Besides, Im not a Marxist. He calls for a strong centralized and socialised bank and I call for all banks to be converted to bakeries (or something else nicer than the usury pushers). Marx called for gradual change from capitalism, to socialism, to classless society. Anarcho-syn calls for an immediate change from whatever state your society is in to a classless and stateless society.

Well, I can keep going....

Ha, Marx did that to me too, he's like Kant. I can't cope with the unedited Kant, he turns my brain to mush trying to disseminate even a simple concept from the way he words things.

RE: Hi!
See, here I'd call for banks to be turned into batteries.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

I hear ya. I read Kant's "Logic" cover to cover, but at the time I was half way through my logic course so it was still fresh in my mind. His book actually helped get my grade up.

As far as light reading, neither Marx or Kant fit the bill.

I doubt that. Religion is rather bad.

Also, I still think that religion would become very uninteresting if we could never die. Even to those who currently hold religion tightly as if they were holding the last bar of delicious chocolate on earth.
Religion seems almost completely centred on death and the wishful after. If there is no end to our existence, what would become of religion? How popular would it still be?

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence - Carl Sagan

Mankind's intelligence walks hand in hand with it's stupidity.

Being an atheist says nothing about your overall intelligence, it just means you don't believe in god. Atheists can be as bright as any scientist and as stupid as any creationist.

You never really know just how stupid someone is, until you've argued with them.

RE: Hi!
A very good question.

I still laugh at muslims who abstain from alcohol in their actual real and only life, because their religion forbids it - and they're rewarded by rivers of wine (or something) in an afterlife paradise.

Yep, it's all about the death.

And religion is a great way of keeping unfortunate and poor people in check - put up with it and you'll be rewarded in death. No, really, honestly.

You are currently experiencing a lucky and very brief window of awareness, sandwiched in between two periods of timeless and utter nothingness. So why not make the most of it, and stop wasting your life away trying to convince other people that there is something else? The reality is obvious.

I'm an anarchist (you can tell from my name), which means I agree with most of what liberalism as to say, I just think that a lot of liberals these days support capitalism, which is a failed system that does nothing to help the people in society that need it most. I think it would b better if we scrapped the economic system and started again with a complete anarchaic commune (anarchy-syndicalism) where the workers manage everything and we live by simply helping one another rather than charging people for help.

Uh oh.
