I think, though, that the people who are voting for him, aside from the ultra-conservative whackjob Christians like he is, are the idiots who don't know much about him or what he really stands for. The "We need to get that gawldamn darkie Muslim Marxist commie outta the White House an' I ain't votin' for no damn Mormon!" type. Funny, though, how Santorum has so much red state support when it's the red states who buy the most online porn. But I'm guessing that they really don't know about his plans to ban it.

I honestly think you're on to something there. I have friends and relatives who love him. They're not even that fundamentalist, they just fall for how the man is branded and advertised and don't look too deeply into the issues. On another note, if this guy (or any fundy it seems) gets in office will there be a rush to stock up on birth control? Pack in a supply for about 4 years or so until the storm is over.

What Frothy doesn't realize is that this is an issue of states rights. Here they go again. The Republican war cry is "Government out of people's lives. Don't tell me what to do!" But here they are proposing a nationwide ban based on nothing more that, we all know it, religious prejudice. I bet Santorum wouldn't even deny that the bible influenced this "moral decision". Same as when they were trying to rewrite the constitution to define marriage as between a man and women.

What more would you expect from a man who doesn't believe in the absolute separation of church and state and wants biblical law to trump that of the government? God I fucking hate politics in this country.

Oh god I hope you're right. I once had confidence in this. I'm having second thoughts about this. It's hard not to be myopic when you see how many people like this nutcase. The bigger picture looks better.
