Squiggly Line

I am 39 now and I don't recall ever having them. However I will not stare intro bright lights unless I have to, like watching a traffic signal while to shines straight in your face. As a former competition marksman I always took very good care of my eyes. That is until a few years ago when a piece of metal shot into my left eye. The doctors got it out okay, and it was lodged away from the centre so it doesn't affect my eye sight. Since then I have gotten only more carefull, almost obsessive about eye protection.
Best regards,

I had them every now and then as a kid. I don't recall having them for years though.
I used to stare at lamps more then when I was bored though....and Adrian suggests doing that to see them - so maybe THAT'S why lol EvF (May 28, 2009 at 2:00 pm)Darwinian Wrote: I have a couple of familiar squiggles that have been there for years. I tend to notice them more when I'm tired and of course, in the summer.
There is a procedure to remove them but as this involves putting a needle in your eye, sucking out all the fluid and then replacing it with an artificial replacement, I think I'll give it a miss hock:
Yeah, I'll second that.....Leo- I'm only a few years younger than you, and I've tried my best to take care of my eyes as much as possible... However, I work in a very bright lab half of the time and some what dim the rest. I promise you, after looking in a Scope for hours on in.. It can truly wear you down a bit.....
But I will say that I have never had anything stuck into my eye as you have. I know you had to be in a crazy amount of pain from that......

I used to get these from time to time. I've not seen one recently though.

Looking at an illuminated blank canvas like the sky or a wall in a lit room can make these eye floaters more pronounced and noticeable. It should be noted that these are very different from the "squiggly lines" you get from staring at a filament bulb for a short period of time causing what I can only describe as "Retina Burn".
Hoi Zaeme.
Yes, these squiggly lines look like chains of cells, which I suppose they are. Or sometimes you get little tiny black dots or circles.
