Does Atheism Need to be Rebranded?

RE: Does Atheism Need to be Rebranded?
I'd love it to reach the point that we (atheists) are "tolerated" to such an extent that they all fear to be labeled "Anti-Atheists" (?) Atheicists? So yeah... Like black people or gay and lesbians or women.

I'd settle for the point where atheist becomes as useless a term as afaeist (lack of belief in faeries).
Self-authenticating private evidence is useless, because it is indistinguishable from the illusion of it. ― Kel, Kelosophy Blog

If you’re going to watch tele, you should watch Scooby Doo. That show was so cool because every time there’s a church with a ghoul, or a ghost in a school. They looked beneath the mask and what was inside?
The f**king janitor or the dude who runs the waterslide. Throughout history every mystery. Ever solved has turned out to be. Not Magic.

That would require 'theist' to become just as useless.

We can only dream...
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell

I think atheist is fine, gay is awful, homophile would be more apt. Gay always reminds me of some limp wristed faggot. But a lot of homosexuals are big and ugly. They are the same physically as heterosexuals.
But what do you really want with this atheism? Unity, power, pigeon hole people by their ideologies and grow an empire of unbelievers and try to rule the world? This is a dangerous trap, you are better to be individuals as evil always takes the reigns of power.
The theists have fallen into this trap and have been fighting forever over dominion of the world.
Religion is supposed to be benevolent, God is the ruler, we are just humble animals thankful for Gods favour to live in peace and love. But evil people have turned religion into a monster, do you want the same kind of people to do the same with atheism?

I'm not certain that homosexuality is a philia though, as most 'philes are still attracted to their opposite gender, with the philia serving as a modifier to that gender. It's certainly not a choice, but I'm not certain it's a philia for the reason above, so some other name would probably work best. Like "homosexual". Either way, that's not really the topic, so back on tangent...

I disagree, but find it interesting you would say this. There are a lot of religions in power.

We tend to have a lot of questionable word usage around here and it is often used in jest or in order to demonstrate another's beliefs. While I don't expect or even want you to care about my opinion, I have to say that your turning of the phrase "limp-wristed faggot" is pretty gnarly. Faggots don't have wrists.

I wouldn't worry about it, philia can be used for anything eg audiophile, videophile but I suppose lover may be a better term as it's not so cold and scientific, how about same gender lover? I have even taken the sex out to make it more warm and fuzzy, and not all relationships are just about sexual gratification. Even though sex means gender people will imagine a lot of sweaty messy lustful debauchery, I know I do.

You have to be evil to claw your way to the top, evil figts other evil, to hold power you must be the most evil. Look back to the past all the great empires were ruthlessly evil. USA is becoming more evil every day as it fights for more power and dominion.

My term for faggot (bundle of sticks) is slang for a skinny wimp not homosexual. Faggot can also be used for a very old woman a dried up old hag.

Technically philia is the greek word for "love" and is used for instance in philosophy meaning love of knowledge.

"Philias" have the psychiatric connotation of being a sexual disorder. For instance in pedophilia and necrophilia. Homosexuality used to be considered a sexual disorder but was removed from that list as the world became more tolerant and accepting of the practice. It has not been considered a "philia" by the psychiatric community since 1974.

Ha ha psychiatry is the study of the mind and as this is intangible, psychiatry is a pseudo science or false science. The only scientifically speaking "sexual disorder" would be if your sex organs did not function properly. Homosexuality has just been taken off the taboo list because of political pressure. Don't get me wrong I am not a social prude, what people want to have sex with is their business.

Psychiatry is not pseudo-science or intangible in the slightest. What gives you that idea?
