'The difference between a Miracle and a Fact is exactly the difference between a mermaid and seal. It could not be expressed better.'
-- Samuel "Mark Twain" Clemens

"I think that in the discussion of natural problems we ought to begin not with the scriptures, but with experiments, demonstrations, and observations".

- Galileo Galilei (1564-1642)

"In short, Meyer has shown that his first disastrous book was not a fluke: he is capable of going into any field in which he has no training or research experience and botching it just as badly as he did molecular biology. As I've written before, if you are a complete amateur and don't understand a subject, don't demonstrate the Dunning-Kruger effect by writing a book about it and proving your ignorance to everyone else! Yeah, I saw it before you linked it. The photo is pretty nice (like all the other ones you posted). Keep up the good work. Smile

Lastpoet, I think you are a great skydiver. I don't know if I'd be able to do that.

I don't go right away to jump again because of money constraints... I'd highly recommend it for those who can, lets call it adding a new perspective Big Grin

Pfft. I'd probably love it, but wind up having so much anxiety they would think I was having a heart attack. I wonder if they let you jump with a heart condition. Hmm.

LastPoet, you're pretty cool. Big Grin

Shell B: Speaks her mind, pulls no punches and while having a jagged personality, is actually pretty cool to talk with from the few experiences I've had so far in the IRC. Somehow she's also called a bitch. A bitch in mainstream culture is someone who is bitchy; they complain without having any desire to change what they're bitching about [hence bitching] and just do it for the sake of hearing themselves talk. They have nothing interesting to say, and they make everyone around them wish they were dead.

In closing: We're clearly not mainstream culture. XD

Going from being a devout protestant to unconditional atheist is hard -- I know, I did too, though I was less "devout" and more stubbornly "deist", except that I could pray to god to let me get away with things by the skin of my teeth. Still, falling from grace to Earth is a tough shock.

Ain't that last bit the fuckin' truth... I'm still trying to shake off the impact. The proverbial ringing in my head is almost cleared, though.

Gonna cheat and do you, too.

Moros reminds me a lot of myself in all the good ways and thankfully none of the bad. The conciseness of his points in discussions leaves me feeling more than a bit envious at times. ...And his avatar is sick as hell.
