How Should We Elect Staff?

RE: How Should We Elect Staff?
I'm with pad on this, but I'm going to stay out of the voting because it should be you guys who decide. In all honesty, a popularity contest was exactly what I thought would make it an unsavory prospect.

NoMoreFaith, there has never been a scenario such as you have described of which I am aware. However, you can rest assured that if a majority were to loathe a staff member for good reason and forum misconduct, it would be dealt with. I disagree that there should be popularity contests against staff members, though. If they are demonstrably abusing their position, then there is a problem that staff can deal with. Members do not oust staff based on irritation. There is a very good reason for that too. More often than not, people get pissed when they get warnings. Some people run in groups here. If someone gets a warning for a good reason, they may be able to oust a staff member for no reason. In short, fuck that. I would hate to see a member of the team go because of some pissy rule breaker.

I should be moderator, because, well, FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No, seriously, vote for me in November.

I'm actually all for a public vote, although I can see how it could become a popularity contest. However, my experience, as a member of forums/ FB pages/message boards etc, is that the lowly members often feel that the higher-ups go on an ego trip and start considering their opinions as absolute law. To me, that creates a totalitarian (Forum community) state. I haven't been here near long enough to comment on whether that is the case here, however, I feel that transparency and fairness should always win out. That's just a hypothesis though, because there's never actually been any organization which has shown transparency and fairness, in the entire history of the human race - imo.

We do make quite an effort to be transparent and fair. I could cite Tiberius as a perfect example of this. He is the owner of the forums (technically) and never trumps the rest of the staff when making decisions. I would say that is pretty fair. As for being transparent, the rules are all there and we aren't allowed to step outside those boundaries, unless we all see a need for it. In many cases, staff members disagree with each other. We go for majority rule in those cases. I think it is run well. We have some bumps, but that is usually caused by things one might say are natural in a forum environment.

Yeah, typo, fucktard. He listed quite a few things. If you really want to know them all I believe they are listed on "Things Christian men say, when even their sex doll is too frigid to touch that shit".

I've always found that when the world slips you a Geoffry you should stroke the furry wall.

Yeah, he was rather colorful and dumb. Shit, I might still have some of his messages in the old inbox. He had such a gross, malformed hard-on for me.

Yip, he sure did. In fact, our friendship stemmed from me asking why men (Geoffy) always seemed to attack you when you weren't the only one in the thread who argued against their position.

Anyway, getting back to the topic; I submit Geoffy as a serious contender for head admin.
