RE: My girlfriend wants our kids introduced to "all major world religions"

First of all ... I'm soooo glad I'm not chained to a person who has these kind of issues about my son.
Secondly, if she's adamant about exposing your kids to religions. No problem. Simply start reading them the Bible. Show them all the horrible things it contains. Show them the multitude of contradictions. Show them what the bible expects of them. My point is that I have found the best way to combat the stupids is to use their own bible against them. Than of course follow that up with the true history of all religions, being sure to point out how they're all nearly identical and plagarize eachother the world over.
In the end, your knowledge will be theirs and you'll have a better chance of destroying that god-awful disease. (pardon the pun)

She just likes to let people have an open-mind about things and this is no exception. I do not fault her for this, she is simply staying true to her belief. I don't feel chained to her at all. I feel rather blissful in her presence, tbh. We have no kids yet, nor is it likely that we would have any until we are both out of college so this is one of those far off issues.

That pretty much nailed it.

You are wrong. Critical thinking does not necessarily lead to the same belief as me. But it most certainly leads to a vastly different belief than yours.

Why would I possibly care to speak on your behalf? I am speaking about you .

I don't see what the problem is. It'd be impractical to teach every religion in depth, but if you just covered a few different ones that'd be enough. As has already been mentioned covering the origins of these religions would be important too. There's no need to make any judgements regarding the religions you teach (ie; religion X is bad / bullshit), making factual observations is enough to inform a child, they don't need the 'truth' force-fed to them.
I think a well informed child is less likely to grow up religious personally. If I ever decided to have children I'd teach them critical thinking skills before any other subjects. They should know things like the difference between soundness and validity in arguments, as well as be able to identify common logical fallacies. Teaching a child how to teach themselves is going to make them unstoppable - but if you just teach them facts they become little more than databases rattling off details when prompted.

This is basically what you said..."Critical thinking may not lead to my beliefs but they most certainly will not lead to yours." You're making a baseless assumption. You "speaking about" me as if you know what I believe.

There is no assumption, other than what you've posted in this forum is a reasonably accurate reflection of relevent parts of your belief. Do you care to challenge this assumption by claiming you lied?
Those parts of your belief is utterly irreconcilable with any useful interpretation of the concept of impartial critical thinking execised with due diligence. That is spoken about you, not on your behalf.
