I have converted to Christianity

RE: I have converted to Christianity
Logic, I honestly believe you might be bipolar and manic. Manic people convert to religions, excessively impulse buy, act recklessly. I'm being serious when I ask if you've been feeling more than amped lately. This is not meant to offend you, by the way.

Ok, so it all comes from emotion. You should never pass judgement on what's true or false through feelings/emotion, it's completely unreliable, but then again you don't seem interested in what's true.

So next question - Why Christianity? Among the many thousands of religions. Why this one?

Mankind's intelligence walks hand in hand with it's stupidity.

Being an atheist says nothing about your overall intelligence, it just means you don't believe in god. Atheists can be as bright as any scientist and as stupid as any creationist.

You never really know just how stupid someone is, until you've argued with them.

No, I did not. I have already explained that I was referring to Hugh Everett's formulation of Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle, and the many worlds interpretation of the double slit experiment.

I have Asperger's syndrome and I don't think Logic even has a mental illness or degenerative health condition.

Of course poes who "magically convert" on this site could be regarded as having a terminal condition in that they don't stay with us very long. >_>

I did not say that "it all comes from emotion". I said "primarily based on emotion". By this, I was referring to a theoretical reflection of my own personal emotional wisdom and morality.

As I have already stated, I believe that the majority of individuals passing judgement here are utterly ignorant of philosophy and assume that science (empirical evaluation) and mathematics have the ultimate answer to absolutely everything, which they clearly do not.

My new found interest in Christianity was only made possible by perceiving it through the lens of relativism and existentialism. The vast majority of people who have replied to this thread are speaking exclusively from a material reductionist perspective.

As I have already stated, I believe that God exists and does not exist simultaneously. I also believe that atheistic and religious beliefs are equally valid. If everybody subscribed to this pluralistic and relativistic approach, we would probably live in a more peaceful world. There are obviously many certainties in life, but uncertainty dominates the further we dig into the rabbit hole.

How could existentialism make you believe in God? That's cutting your personal freedom of choice waaaaay down.

Its rather uncanny that someone called "logic" doesn't know the law of non contradiction.

I'm sorry, but how exactly did existentialism lead to theism? That doesn't make a single bit of sense.

That's my point exactly! The law of non-contradiction was spawned by Aristotle approximately 2300 years ago. Why does everybody assume that this law applies to absolutely everything in existence? It clearly does not; contradictions exist all over the place, most impressively in field of quantum mechanics.

Provide your definition of "existentialism", then I will explain my position.

You still shouldn't rely on emotion for when it comes to figuring out what's real or not. Emotions do nothing.

And if what you said was true (and I don't think it is) how does that make religion the better method for explaining things?

You didn't answer the question. Why Christianity and not the other thousands of religions?

Quote:As I have already stated, I believe that God exists and does not exist simultaneously.
Why do you believe in god? Also, why the Christian god?
