Understanding the bible

RE: Understanding the bible
How about the time after drowning most of the world, god gave us the rainbow as a symbol to promise to never flood the world again. We got rainbows cause god fucked up.
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell

So well worth global genocide then. And there I was thinking ol' Yahweh was a bit of a rascal.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

Now that is a stupid statement, being all powerful, God's plan is perfect and needs no changes, actually you're being ridiculous, an all knowing and all powerful God does not make mistakes. To make a mistake would be a contradiction to omnipresent, omniscient and omnipotent. I guess you answered my question, you do not know what perfect means, I thought you to be smarter than this.

I'm ridiculous? You're the one who can't see the logical contradiction between not making mistakes and being all-powerful. Then again, you are blinded by your delusion.

Also, if god doesn't make mistakes, why did he regret creating us, to the point of wanting to wipe us off the planet?

RE: Understanding the bible

Quote:Problem is, if we know this stuff, then Satan knows it as well. From its point of view, it's got its claws on the Prima Official Strategy Guide to the Final Battle. God is either the shittiest general in the history of the Universe to leak this vital information on purpose, or else it's planning to do an eleventh hour bait 'n' switch (which would mean we can't trust the bible anyway).

You and Tobie do not agree I see. Tobie believes that scripture can be changed, because he thinks God makes mistakes, and yet can still be trusted and you see if the scriptures have to be changed, God can not be trusted, I agree with you on this point.
Yes Satan can read the scriptures also, he knows exactly how things will end, he knows he can not change God's will in these matters, this is his reason to take as many as he can to hell, you really think he wants to be alone in hell. God has laid it all out for everyone to see, in this way no one has an excuse, even Satan can't say, God you tricked me, that's not fair. Yes Satan knows all about the end and that he will not win the battle.

Quote:Either way, I'm wondering just how this god can be considered as having any power at all if it's so completely constrained by the script that ad libbing becomes impossible. It's like that joke in Blackadder about the executioner who signed his name on the wrong line on a death warrant - no matter how much he protested that they had the wrong man, they actually had the right man and the papers to prove it ...

God knows every aspect of the future and you're wondering about His power, how funny. God is not constrained by what He wrote, he let us know exactly what will be ie. His unchangeable will. There is no need for a change the victory is already won, the victory is set for eternity. It will be Satan and all the lost that will be complaining, but to no avail, God laid it all out so no one has an excuse.
Now you're trying to pull the bait and switch with your double talk. In one statement you say God can not be trusted if He has to change scripture, in another you say that God has no power if He can't change the scriptures. So, what is it, it can't be both, make up your mind please.
God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

I understand clearly two things in this, you like to play with words and not be honest in your approach to this discussion, and that you are delusional in your thinking.
Yes, you're being ridiculous.
God was sorrowful for man's condition, it saddened Him that man fell so far. God's love is so intense for man, even though He knew man would fall to great depths of sin, it still saddened Him.

The god of the bible would make the absolute worst comic book character. There is ZERO interesting about the hollow Mithras impersonator.

Simple is the best adjective we can use for christians. It allows us to avoid the other words for stupid.

How is my thinking delusional? I point out a contradiction in your belief, so it is automatically delusional? If you really want to see a delusion, just pick up your fucking bible.
