Gotta put the Thundershirt on before the storm starts and he's still calm. It works by keeping them calm, not by calming them when they're scared.

Post some pictures of your scaly friends too. Btw, I would like to hear something about them. Especially about the behavioral pattern. You once said, you educate kids about snakes.

Colt Bravo or just Bravo is a 2-1/2 ex racer. He didn't race much because he is kind of shy. We are expecting some thunderstorms this evening so I guess we get to find out if he is thunderphobic...

Congrats Pappy!

I have three ball pythons. Two naturals and one albino. Behavioral patterns can depend on a number of things. Temperature consistency in the tank, how much they are handled and how often they are fed are just a few things. Their tanks should be between 80 to 85 degrees during the day and 70 - 75 degrees at night. If the tanks are not kept at a consistent temp you may have problems with feeding, shedding and behavior.

The more a snake is handled, the more comfortable they get being around you. Our three snakes definitely have different personalities and none of them have ever bitten anyone. They are all the same age: 7 years old. We did get our albino, Crisco as a rescue when the breeder using him decided he didn't need him anymore. He wasn't handled very much as a breeding snake. He was taken out of his very small enclosure only for feeding and breeding purposes. As a result, when he is around the two females we have, he tends to become agitated and want to hiss a lot. We keep him in a completely separate room, on the second floor of the house. The two females, Peko and Lyko are natural sisters from the same clutch of eggs and hatched on the same day. They have always shared a tank. They too, have very different personalities. Peko likes to wrap around my glasses as seen below. She also likes to wrap herself up in my hair and have her head scratched. Lyko, on the other hand does not like her head to be touched. She prefers to be balled up in your hands and often hides in a rock that is in her enclosure.

We have a thing for black cats around here Smile
Vader was a rescue from three years ago - Jan. 2012. He was in a bad way and his vet bills were expensive but he has been totally worth it. We think he has some anxiety issues as he will meow incessantly if he cannot see where I am. He normally stays glued to my lap or right next to my recliner. If I get up, he follows me to either the kitchen or the bathroom. I have no privacy. Anywhere.
