You can only use any drug if and only if you intend to converse with yourself and journey through your troubles.
That means reliving it, conversing with the people in the middle of it and asking them for forgiveness.
I've done that before to come at peace with things I've done to others and cannot change now.
Although those still living may hate my guts, I do not hate theirs.
Because their representation inside my mind, the simulation, the memory of them has given me a two way conversation to pledge that I will not make the same mistakes.
Forgiveness is one thing.
Redemption is hard.

You know that after it wears off the same problem will be there, it will not have changed and actually grown worse because you do not deal with it. I know how you can find the relief you're looking for, I found it in my life and now do not have to look back.
I repeat; you must of done some seriously dark shit to want to believe what you do.
Forgiveness, redemption. They're just terms, they don't undo whats been done. Nothing does. You will probably carry the guilt with you to some extent for the rest of your life, thats a given. Its up to you how that guilt defines you and your actions. You can make it a tragedy that spurred you on to do benevolent and kind acts or you can make it pointless, a total waste of life and a lesson that has gone unheeded.
You know whether its the former or the latter and whether you're satisfied with it.

I forgive myself if, and only if, I feel that I have learned a sufficient lesson from what I have done wrong.

I don't forgive myself totally. I always regret when I remember and beat myself up a little bit over it. But I try to focus on the present and move forward.

Passing accountability for transgressions onto a dead arab jew is hardly a solution. It's moral bankruptcy and you should be ashamed. The fact that that your religion is based on this very premise and the fact that you feel no shame makes you and all other Christians contemptible.

I have done a fair amount of evil shit before, but I just have the attitude of "oh well"... 
I don't let guilt get to me. I know what I did was wrong and I don't need to explain to the people I wronged that I know this. They can think what they want, doesn't bother me.
I take my "shit happens" approach to life very seriously.

Maybe it's my Irish Catholic upbringing, but I use my guilt as a vehicle to do better things. I never let it go, but I don't let it consume me either. Basically, I turn it into a tool that motivates me when I become complacent, and I'm not doing everything I can to be positive and effect positive change in the lives of others. When I want to vent and be an asshole, I come here.
