I asked this on yahoo answers (Big mistake);
What is the difference between me and a rock?
I have been thinking about there being little difference between organic and non-organic matter, and that everything in an animals body is simply following the same laws that any rock does.
So why am I different, if at all?
Is there a name for this problem, as I'm pretty sure I'm not the first to think of this.

If one traces back all material, in a very literal scientific sense, we all occupied the same dense spot, life and non life. right before the big bang. Motion and physics and chemistry over those 13 billion years made us distinct. But yes, we are still all made up of atoms, both rocks and humans.

I don't know why people ponder this, it is really not anything more than how atoms arrange.

This thread is a prime example of why Philosphy is a load of old bollocks.

No, this is prime example why omni314's mode lof thinking is bulllocks. There is much more to philosophy than the scum at the bottom of the barrel.

I dunno. I was interested in studying it once. So I read a few books on the subject and found it rather silly and annoying. Not for me at all.

When I hear the word "Philosophy" it reminds me of the horrible sequel of "Revenge Of The Nerds", they should have stopped with the first one.

But there was a scene when the nerds were laying on the deserted island with nothing to do staring up at the sky, smoking pot with the one Jock named "Ogar" and they were "pondering philosophy" and Ogar said,

"Hey guys, what if "C-A-T actually spelled D-O-G?"

NOW, judging by the arguments theists use arguing " my god exists because energy cannot be created or destroyed" they are trying to justify the same damned thing because they are postulating a god who is "all powerful". Now if that is the case then "C-A-T" does spell D-O-G.

QM is freaky enough without any human of any label inserting their "philosophy".

I think the main difference is that I'm not a rock.
This is stupid
