The Irrational Nature Of Atheism - An Explanation Of God, Gods And Goddesses

You obviously didn't understand what it was I was trying to get across.
I guess I'll get over it, like I always do when theists make blatant mistakes...

Then you're making an even worse argument. A book about God can't be used to prove God? That's like saying you can't use a math book to prove math, or you can't use a genetics textbook to prove evolution.

Now, you can't say, "The Bible says God exists, so therefore God exists", because then you're assuming the Bible is true, which isn't a valid assumption in this setting. But suppose that the Bible actually contained a fantastic, valid, completely true and convincing argument that God existed. Would you reject this argument merely because it is located in the pages of the Bible?
“The truth of our faith becomes a matter of ridicule among the infidels if any Catholic, not gifted with the necessary scientific learning, presents as dogma what scientific scrutiny shows to be false.”

My eyes! Arrrrrrggh!!

Yeah, but seriously? Throw your holy book out. It proves God like my copy of Hansel and Grettel proves witchs.

This is the laziest counterargument I've ever seen. It's just a slightly-rephrased version of "The Bible isn't true", which is just as lazy an argument as saying "The Bible is true". And it's just as convincing.

You have to tailor your counter argument to suit the paper pulp like caliber of the intelligence that would quote bible to support the bible.

Given the highly interpretive nature of archaeology I don't think this statement has any more import than saying "Oral Roberts has demonstrating that your fucking bible is true" but I do find the statement provocative nevertheless.

Explain to me, if you would please, how archaeology has demonstrated this and how much authority it would have to have done so in the first place.

Would you quote science to support science? If not then what would you quote to do so?

I'll take you seriously depending on your answer.

I don't even know what point you are shocked at. Could you elaborate on that?

The political influence by those who abuse the Bible or Witches?

Oh yeah, well explain how Chewbacca lives on Endor! That makes NO sense.

Well, aside from Frank Herbert's Dune I was never much of a science fiction fan[atic] so all I can do is agree with you that it makes no sense, or contemplate the obvious Biblical influence in Star Wars.

Uh . . . there's a place called Sin in the Bible.

All of it.
Eveything in the comment in question.
Endor, Witches, AND political influence.
Everything.

A place?
Saywaah?
My conclusion is that there is no reason to believe any of the dogmas of traditional theology and, further, that there is no reason to wish that they were true.
Man, in so far as he is not subject to natural forces, is free to work out his own destiny. The responsibility is his, and so is the opportunity.

Hey, guys! The Bible is true because the Bible says that the Bible is true! So God! Yeah! God-Squad!

EDIT: I combed back over OP... I felt insulted, lol. We know what gods are (we also have dictionaries and the internet, wow!). We don't need you to try and baby-feed it to us like we're in primary school. Smile

ROFLOL

You seem to have a minus IQ, American educated I guess?

Texts books don't "prove" anything, scientific verification and peer review do.

The text books just let you know the state of play.

Two places actually. A wilderness (Exodus 16:11; 17:1 / Numbers 33:9-15) And a city in Egypt (Ezekiel 30:6-15)

I don't think anyone could deny the political influence of those who abuse the Bible throughout history. All of the horrors of Christendom wouldn't have been possible if it were not so. Politics is far more destructive than religion, religion is only used as a tool by the politicians.

Witches. The Bible, like it or not, is the most accurate history known to mankind. It mentions witches.

I started reading the OP; I stopped at "angrily". Nothing to do with my rationality, I'm simply allergic to Well Poison.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'
