Am I the only one annoyed by this picture?

RE: Am I the only one annoyed by this picture?
I dunno, but there was cartoon boobies with something dripping down them when I walked in the room. I had a fucking cow. The guy who posted it was banned, but I made him stop going there anyway. He's into all these different shows, and I have no way of knowing if they're inappropriate without googling them, and since they all look the same to me, I keep making the mistake of assuming it's the same one he watched yesterday.

Soul Eater, Kaze No Sigma, there's about a million of them, isn't there? He's into every single one. I miss the Pokemon, Dragon Ball days.

You mean we 'should' ? Fuck me,another one;who put you in charge? Who and what I respect are my decision.

I have now way of knowing if we even mean the same thing by 'liberty'. I don't even respect the jingoistic American version of democracy.

In my opinion the US constitution is both one of the noblest and one of the most cynical political documents I've ever read. I think it contains some wonderful and some idiotic ideas.

I have only contempt for the way the American (and Australian) constitution is ignored and intentionally misinterpreted by various governments and powerful vested interests. (such as say the NRA, and the lunar religious right)

No, I'm not joking. (Incidentally, my employer is based in Houston. Go figure.) Pretty much everyone in my office (Portland, OR) thought it was a stupid exercise.

Does anyone else outside of the US do shit this stupid?

Not in the People's Republic of Berkeley (California). Kids don't recite the pledge. Some parents complain if we have flags in the classroom. Personally that suites me fine.

I remember during the Viet Nam non-war deciding if my number was called I would go. So glad my number was 316. I am not the least bit patriotic but I would have gone out of a sense of doing my share. If I'd gone and ended up in a wheel chair I think I would have felt stupid for the rest of my life.

I have noticed. I don't know when I was last titillated on these forums.

Straw man. I never claimed to be in charge; I never claimed that "who and what you respect" aren't your decision.

I don't think you know what jingoistic means, if you think that it describes the democracy established in the Constitution.

Okay. What does that have to do with my argument? Or the topic at hand: the picture in the OP?

We said it for her out loud, and she looked at us blankly as we, like drones recited it for her. Then we got to the "under god" part, and her eyes got a little buggy. I told her she could participate if she wants to, but she doesn't have to. She said she'll think about it. I wanted to go ahead and tell her about it, that way she won't hear it, and shout out, "GOD AIN'T REAL!".... like she did in Sunday school class at her dad's church.

Oh! And just like a good little critical thinker, she asked me, "which god are we talking about here?".

You should sign your kids up here, Alei. Way smarter than the average theist we get.

lol @ the atheists here thinking that they engage in critical thinking. Care to contribute on any of the threads that challenge your assumptions?

If you can come up with something that actually challanges and not just spout intellectually vacant arguments.

Oh and remember to give EVIDENCE.

You can fix ignorance, you can't fix stupid.

I don't think you know what a challenge is.

If you say, "X is true," I can challenge you to support your claim. I don't have to give evidence that you're wrong; that burden isn't on me.

But that's not what's even really going on, here. First, this thread is about how people react to the image in the OP. I gave my reaction.

Second, you piled on to someone who thought their child was "free-thinking" and so forth. Given the response this community has had to actually engaging in free thinking--e.g., treating one's own assumptions with skepticism in order to test them--I found that funny.

If you want evidence about how negatively the atheists here react when their assumptions are regarded with skepticism, I can dig up the myriad foul-mouthed responses to my skeptical inquiries.

This forums response to freethinking being an appraisal that I cannot interpret in any way other than "waaaah they don't agree with my oh so well "reasoned" arguments., wwaaaah"

I'm really tired of hearing about that, personally. Here's another negative response for your quote-mill. Man up whiner.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

That's a run-on sentence. Are you saying that I'm saying, 'waaaah they don't agree with my oh so well "reasoned" argument, wwaaaah"? Or that that is the forum's response to freethinking?

Well, once anyone here actually engages in skepticism or free thinking, maybe I'll stop calling you guys hypocrites.

...so you're not going to clarify what you meant? I can't really have a discussion with someone who writes vague sentences and then refuses to clarify his meaning when he's asked politely.
