From an evolutionary standpoint, I can see how rape would be advantageous. Ghengis Khan raped women in the cities he conquered and was rumored to have had hundreds of offspring because of it. His genetic contribution to the future was assured because of it and he probably has a lot of descendants scattered all over the world right now.

However, from a social standpoint, it's monstrous and barbaric and wrong.

"Natural" in science merely means observable. Tornados and cancer are natural but that does not mean we like those things affecting us. Rape is an unfortunate part of evolution, but it is hardly the result of a magic villain. It is natural in that it is a observable action. It is at the same time destructive both physically and mentally to the victim. Neither the good or bad in life need a super natural explanation.
