http://thebrickbible.com/ Quote:The evilbible.com I'm talking about is not a forum. It's the same place. The admin was banning everyone in sight at the end. Finally, he just closed down the forums. This was back in 2009. Scroll down to the bottom and click the link. http://www.evilbible.com/ RE: Looking for a particular website

I somehow managed to survive the banhammer but then I tended to keep my head down. If I behaved then as I do now, my posts would probably never have made it to double figures. I did get warned once or twice though.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'
Sounds like a great site.

It was, really, I think we're making it sound somewhat worse than it really was. Though there was the everpresent threat of the banhammer, it generally - though not exclusively - only tended to get brought out against the more whacked-out nutjobs. However the owner, Chris, wasn't exactly known for his tolerance or patience, and so there was rarely much of a warning before the inevitable splat. Sometimes all it took was minor violations of the rules, which included proper punctuation, spelling, grammar, and capitalisation of proper nouns. That actually was a biggie, I remember.
It was the members that made the forum, just like here but less so if anything. Really, it was only towards the end that the shitstorm blew up (horribly mixed metaphor but appropriate). What had happened was that Chris suddenly banned one of the longest-serving and popular members over something really trivial. Then when others protested, they found themselves banned as well. It just spiralled from then on; several others specifically requested to be banned, which they were. Some time later, after most of us had migrated to another board, Chris shut up shop, citing pressures of moderating it and leaving the possibility of returning when he had more free time. That was in 2009 (coincidentally, exactly one year to the very day before my own precious Princess was stolen from me).

We have some reasonable theists around here....Rayaan, Tacky.... and occasionally Frods when he doesn't have his head up his ass. None of them would have lasted over there. That's true enough. I'd actually forgotten about that, to be honest. Probably because I tend to want to see the best in people, but also mostly because I never tried to disagree with him, at least publicly on the forum, so I never put myself in that position.

I was only there for two weeks and I got a 3-day ban. I was told that I had a record number of complaints against my posts. Many of my posts were deleted. In one thread, someone mentioned Bart Ehrman's New Testament. I said I had read it and it was from that book that the idea that Jesus was an apocalyptic zealot was floated. The moderator who gave me the 3-day ban told me that it was against CF rules to denigrate Christ who is God. But I didn't denigrate Christ. I only said that was what Ehrman said. So, if I said Dawkins wrote a book that siad there was no God, I'd be an atheist? But it's true I also wrote that the Bible contained errors, untruths and even lies. But I felt if they didn't agree with me, they should engage me in a debate. I told them I was an honest Christian and they were furiious. They said I implied that those who say the Bible contained no errors and lies were dishonest. Actually, it's not just an implication. I do believe it. They're either very ignorant or dishonest. So, I searched for another forum. I found atheist.com first but it was hard to register. There was some bug in it. And then I found this which seems quite a nice forum. Some xtian sites are, sadly, notorious for banning not only non-believers on sight but also their own supporters who might dare to ask questions. There's even some that seem to ban everybody, whether they agree with them or not. The name that springs to mind is biblocality.com owned by the notorious Troy Brooks a.k.a. Churchwork, Worker for the Church, Friend, A Friend, or any variation of those names with subsequent and increasing numbers of the -s suffix following each time he's banned from somewhere (though he seems to have settled on Parture - i.e. PARtial rapTURE, get it?) simply because he's infamously batshit insane.
In comparison with some sites, this place is practically a free-for-all.
