That's an argument? I thought it was satire...

Yeah, it's not like they've been done to death for 2000 years already is it?

It's evolved into satire but originally it was meant as a serious slam-dunk proof of 'intelligent' design and, by extension, God by comparing a banana with a Coke can, which we know to be designed. Comfort was forced to play the "I was only joking" card after being torn to shreds mercilessly by people who actually know something about the subject and who appreciate a good joke when they see one. He claimed it was all a hoax by evil atheists to make him look silly - as if he needs any help with that - and made a back-handed apology video, an anonymous voice-over guy complaining that atheists made a strawman by leaving off the Coke can part before stating:
Quote:Comfort apologized for his mistake about the banana, saying 'My apologies for not explaining myself more clearly, I was not aware that the common banana had been so modified through hybridization.' However, the truth remains that God gave man the knowledge and ability to modify it so it could perfectly fit into his hand. He did the same with big dogs so they could fit into his car and with wild cats so that they are perfectly fit for his wife.
Comfort is now reduced to performing his banana routine as legitimate comedy, as that's all it's worth. As Thunderf00t said, people enjoy laughing at a clown.
Oh, by the way, greetings Abel. I for one don't mind you sharing your beliefs with us as long as you don't expect me to share them as well.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'

You DO realise this an atheist forum?
Oh well,we happen to have a quite few sadists who will say very unkind things every time you post something stupid or really boring.
You're off to a flying start.

How can anyone be serious about using a banana as proof of existence of god.
Oh wait.

What's hard is explaining to others, who actually like him, that he's not all that bright. From what I hear though he's a very nice guy.
