Yeah, I don't think I could hate someone. They would have to be absolutely awful for me to hate them.

lol. I do that on Xbox. Normally they end up feeling bad and sending me a friend request.

You didn't get any less stupid over the last few weeks.

I wasn't deleting evidence. I had given up on a thread that I had created because it had devolved into a complete mess. In other forums, it would have been split/edited so that the good stuff was there and the bad stuff in its own thread.

But that's on forums with decent moderators. So I renamed the thread and created a new thread with the original post, so that the conversation could continue there. Yeah, it was a messy way of doing it, but if the moderators are as incompetent as they are on TTA, somebody has to try and do their job for them.

But, yeah, keep going for the "destroying evidence" approach... (deep sigh)

Whatever, I'm done arguing with you.

Wow, I know I've come to this party a little late but I'm surprised nobody has mentioned how much better this poll would have been if it only had "yes" as an option, kind of like how the "rate" button has a drop down menu with only the "positive" option.

I fully support the idea of negative an neutral reps. Yes, I do remember the rep wars and hey, you can only rep someone up or down once so how bad could it get?

I seem to remember theists getting the short straw here...

The straw that broke the camel's back was the In This Mind "Y'all are rapists" debacle.

RE: Negative reputation?
The problem with negative reps (as I see it) is that the reputation system is completely separate from the posts system. That is to say, you can give someone a negative rep for something they said, but there is no way of linking it back to an actual post the person made. So if someone comes along and rates me down for disagreeing with me in a single post, it is essentially a mark against me as a person, rather than one particular opinion I had espoused.

As Synackaon said, the member "In This Mind" decided that pretty much all men here were rapists after some of us suggested that women can do things to reduce the risk of rape. Any sane person in that thread who read our comments could see we weren't trying to victim blame, but were instead saying that there are situations that increase the likelihood of rape (as there are with pretty much any crime). However, a visitor to our reputation profiles would only see the negative comment, and not the context.

So because of one kook we can haz no negative reps. I was there man, I remember. I also remember how easy it was to remove said kook's negative reps.

It wasn't just one person. It became a rep war involving multiple people. It's too much work for the staff.

That is a realistic and respectable basis for rules and policy. I think it is good to own it and put it out plainly.
