John 10:4-5 Jesus is giving the analogy:
"When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice. But they will never follow a stranger; in fact, they will run away from him because they do not recognize a stranger’s voice."
In plainer terms, if you are a Christian you will read the Bible and follow Jesus' example--you will seek Jesus' voice. If you are not you will listen to voices of the world: pride, selfishness, greed, ect. The more we think like Christ the less we are tempted by Satan. It is our free will to choose one over the other, and this choice confronts us every day. In heaven those who believed Jesus' voice was the right voice will be made righteous and unable ever to be tempted again.

Ok christians lets get this right. Jesus is the Shepherd and we are the sheep and the devil is out there like some wolf. If he is such a great fucking shepherd then how come he lets that wolf get some many people.
One could ask why the PERFECT god of the christians is to be honored when it got its first attempt at making a human race so wrong that it had to DROWN them all as well.
WE must remember that the xtian religion - a heretical offshoot of the jewish religion - that according to the bible will someday be returned to judaism - is just another in the long list of ancient religions put together by a bunch of uneducated cave dwellers and animal herders. At one time - religion was needed to keep people in line - and the threat had to be something that uneducated people would be scared enough of,
Today - religion has outlived its need - our laws and our ability to govern outselves and live moral and ethical lives came from the fact that more and more are educated - and higher educated.The more educated you are - the less likely you are to believe in spooks and fairy tales.
And it is the truly UNEDUCATED people who make threats that include fairy tales.

"we" aren't all Sheep. The Devil is not a wolf. Christians are likened to sheep in the bible. Some Non-believers are likened to wolves in sheeps clothing, and the Devil is likened to a roaring lion, looking for someone to devoure.
In light of that your assertion kinda falls apart.
