I cant afford to replace all the carpet and paint. I have spent every day cleaning and yet it still hasn't helped. I am at a loss on what to do next.

The carpet's fucked....lol, only thing worse than smoke is cat urine..lol

Sorry pal, Rhythm's right. Start saving for carpet. Until you pull that nasty ass rug outta your house, nothing you do is ever going to get rid of that stench.
I know a LOT of smokers ... not a single one smokes in their own house. I never have either. What the hells wrong with you?!

Congratulation to all that have quit, I quit over a dozen years ago. I have friends who say they quit, yet after a few weeks they start smoking again. So now when they tell me they quit, I say no you have stopped. When a person becomes like Zappa and hates the smell they've quit. Zappa I hope you are successful in getting rid of the odor, I can not stand to smell cig smoke.

But those of us who do not believe in our lord and saviour might as well get used to the smell of smoke considering where we're headed.

For my part I do not see me "becoming a non-smoker" as I quite enjoy sitting and having a "think stick", any-time soon.

I agree that smoking in the house is a bad move and so do not do so. After all is said and done, it is my smoking and drinking that is keeping our current economy afloat via excessive taxes, and so I feel it is my duty (as a blood/ organ donor) to keep smoking albeit at a limited rate.

As for the problem with the smelly carpets they WILL have to be shampooed and the whole house repainted.

Myself and one of my two sisters are just the opposite way. We'd encourage people to light up and try to fan the smoke in our direction. It's like, "MmmmMMmmmmmm, gimme some o' dat. Oh, yeah!" My best friend was just diagnosed with COPD last week, so she has "stopped". I couldn't help thinking, a little bit selfishly, where am I going to get my second hand smoke now?

My gran hasn't smoked since long before I was born, but she still loves getting some second hand smoke blown her way.
