I see that you have Kurt Godel in your avatar, one of the greatest logician and philosopher that ever lived. I find his ideas really interesting ... stuff like the incompleteness theorem, the limits of human intuition and mathematics, unprovability, self-reference, paradoxes, holes in logic ...

But, strangely, I heard that he eventually starved himself to death because he thought that someone was putting poison in his food.

yes i only recently came to notice about this man although i grew up only about a few hundred miles from where he lived. since about 2 years i am having a very big interest in mathematics and was recently reading through stuff on combinational mathematics - endless but consistant structures - or repeating endless themes - summing up of varriations.
i have recently bought the suposedly great book Gödel, Escher, Bach and will see towards further advancing my knowlege on mathmatics - a subject i once feared. i am still a blind noob on the subject and every further advice on the advance of knowlege will always be met with with appreciation. i came to read about gödle when somewhere somehow coming accross the liars paradox (cratos of creta says all cretans are liars -there for he`s a liar) and it fucked up my brain for quite some time.
the idea of a mathematician who spent his life taking the hardest of all chalenges fascinates me.

he died out of paranoia, he feared his food would be poisoned and his wife had to taste every meal before he ate it. when she was in hospital for half a year - he simply didn`t eat and starved to death.

Meh. Consider that every religion and even every denomination can be practiced differently in different countries. People always see what they want to in their god. To liberal Christians, Jesus was the kind rebel who cared for the poor. To conservative Christians, Jesus was a stern authoritarian who tells us to get right with his father. Why shouldn't denominations and sects be subject to modification by the local followers, just as a religion itself might be?

the possibility indivdualia choosing your faith (let`s not forget even as atheists) is a very importent right indeed! my main problems with most dominations and sects is the in most cases more than obvious politisation of the faith to fit their own personal comforts. if american protestants would realy cherish luthers teaching of reading the bible for themselves and therefor making decisions over what is their faith by themselves instead of being told what to do by some moneygrabbing televangelist who are nothing else but the 21century version of the 15 century greedy pope (first of after reading about all that genocide in genesis i believe most of them would become atheists)

You see the same thing in America. I'm not sure if you're familiar with the terms "red" and "blue" as it applies to American politics and culture. You see these colors on our election maps every four years.

"Red" or "red states" refers to areas of America, mostly the south or central western states. These are conservative areas, deeply religious, filled with myopic ignorant people chanting "USA! USA!" or "We're #1" even though they've likely never seen any other country. (how ironic that you might associate the color red with the far left). These are the states in our "Bible Belt".

"Blue" or "blue states" refers to more progressive, less religious areas of the country. Not surprisingly, these less religious areas are not only more educated but have a higher standard of living, fewer social problems, lower crime rates, etc.

well i am proud to say that currently the traditional political landscape of germany is collapsing. the german conservative party under merkel has become a more tolerant and more secular and middle class party while left wing parties are more and more flirting with buisnesses. states wich use to be conservative like baden würtenberg now have a liberal goverment and places wich use to be left leaning such as nordreihnwestfahlen had conservative goverments.
in todays german political electoral system the arguments you present have to go through a process almoust as thought as scientific review.
they matter more than your look, slogan or your faith

Here's hoping the Muslims don't ruin that paradise.
