Why Does Atheism and Left-Wing Politics Usually Go Together?

Dude. All that stuff happened under Bush. Remember how he was the president telling us how we needed to bail out the banks? While I don't blame Bush for the banking crash in the first place, I do blame him for his response: save the millionaires and let all those regular folk wind up homeless.

That's just it; nobody has ever tried to stop anyone from praying in schools. My boyfriend was raised in a fundamentalist family and he was taught to always pray before he ate, right? So he always prayed over his meal before he ate at school. Guess what? Nobody ever tried to stop him!

Now, if you want to talk about public employees using their position to promote their personal religious beliefs, that's a different discussion, but keep in mind that if it's legal and I'm the teacher, I'll be telling the class to say "Fuck off, Jesus!"

Also, for me, new issues are going to come up; they always do. I know marriage equality is still being fought (although it doesn't impact me, personally, because of the kinda-unique situation between my boyfriend and I). I don't know what issue will come up next, but I do know the religious conservatives have never supported me so why should I support them?

The Democratic party platform did not mention God even one time.

The Democratic leaders realized this was a P.R. disaster, so they made a motion on the floor to add God to the platform.

The motion was rejected by voice vote three times because so many Democrats in the audience yelled "no" to God.

So finally, the chairman declared that the motion was passed any way, and after that Democrats were booing.

You're such a dolt. Why should any party invoke god? Will you now try to convince me that god is a republican? God plays U.S. politics? The creator of everything? Fuck, you're stupid. Your point in this thread on an atheist forum is that republicans are better than democrates because of the number of times god is mentioned? Even if god were real your fucking argument is fuck all stupid.

If only stupid was painful. Wishful thinking, I know.

Did you ever get to meet the fucking pope?

Quote:On March 2, 1939: Cardinal Eugenio Pacelli was sworn in as Pope Pius XII; four days later (as Hitler’s tanks are rolling into Poland) Pacelli wrote a letter to Hitler: “To the illustrious Herr Aldolf Hitler, Fuhrer and chancellor of the German Reich! Here at the beginning of our pontificate we wish to assure you that we remain devoted to the spiritual welfare of the German people entrusted to your leadership. During the many years we spent in Germany, we did all in our power to establish harmonious relations between church and state. Now that the responsibilities of our pastoral function have increased our opportunities, how much more ardently do we pray to reach that goal? May the prosperity of the German people and their progress in every domain come, with Gods help, to fruition!”

The fucking church never met a despot it didn't like.

Atheists claim to be "free thinkers" and yet they fight for more and more control of every aspect of our lives until there is no freedom left for any of us.

Kind of a contradiction if you ask me.

Is this some kind of dare, in which, you've been challenged to make as many moronic posts as possible in a limited window of time? Because I think your friend(s) owe you a beer.

Also, if you're going to follow a political party just because they believe in God, you might want to watch out for some of the groups you fall in with. Guess who wrote "God With Us" on their belt buckles?

My reply to them is: for the time being, Christians and not international atheists are now standing at Germany’s fore. I am not merely talking about Christianity; I confess that I will never ally myself with the parties which aim to destroy Christianity. "

Why are most catholics a bunch of hard-core persecution-complex hypocrites who want to leave the poor in the gutter to be shat upon by anyone above them, who want to ensure that the poor stay poor and that people who need help never get it, thus turning our nation into a giant gated community of mansions surrounded by ghettos?

Catholics claim to be "people of charity" and yet they fight for less and less assistance to those in the most need of it in every aspect of their lives until the poor have nothing left and all just commit suicide out of despair.

Here's the real kicker, though, nobody asked you anything because nobody wants your opinions or your answers because they're fucking soft-headed spewings of bullshit. Oh wait, sorry, that's insulting to the mongoloids; they at least have some kind of brain function.

That being said, while most atheists I've met don't support Republicans for the reasons I mentioned, there's still enough of a divide between us on economic issues that there are a lot of Libertarians here. I don't agree with their political views on economics, but they can at least usually provide an intelligent basis for those beliefs and I can respect them for that.

Personally, I side with the Democrats but only reluctantly. I want to see a party that's going to be serious about protecting us from abuses by corporate elites and when that party comes around, I'm jumping on board ASAP.

Well, if you vote Democratic this year you are voting for another four years of high unemployment, business failures, mortgage foreclosures, and out of control spending.

But I guess that's ok with you to keep some kid from praying in school.

FUCKING LOL!!! Did you conveniently forget it was the most evangelical-minded, faith-first REPUBLICAN PRESIDENT prior to the current administration that caused us to be in this situation of unemployment, foreclosures, and out of control spending?

I guess not, because that'd require you to have a brain to be aware of things with. I'm even less convinced of this possibility than I am of the existence of god.
