I won't be giving the oil companies my money. I'm going to get a car with a modified diesel engine that will run on used cooking oil. It'll mean I have to spend an extra $500 yearly on maintenance but considering it'll save me thousands in gas [seriously, I could get PAID to obtain fast food place's used cooking oil from them] and considering my O2 output will be 10% of standard gasoline usage, I'm pretty ok with that.

Except when they don't Mehm, showing a little humanity instead of rolling around in the shit like swine...a behavior you seem to idealize. This may be difficult for you to believe, but bear with me. Sometimes, in terrible situations, people practically trip over each other trying to be more helpful, more useful, more "heroic". This is how we measure our potential, not by the worst examples of our behavior. The worst examples (your heroes, presumably) are what we call "cautionary tales".
Not that it takes a single ounce of heroism to say "Hey, we're all human"....but it may take a couple ounces of sense.....which some are clearly lacking.

If I had to choose between saving myself and leaving one of you to die I would die with you. That is just the type of person I am, call it foolish I call it being a more than an animal.
I've even jumped into a fight because it was a 2 on 1 didn't even know the guy. I once broke my friends nose for helping me in a 1 on 1 fight, ended the fight and confused the hell out of both of them.
Live every day as if already dead, that way you're not disappointed when you are.
