I need facts for evolution.

RE: I need facts for evolution.
I welcome you to the forum, but you should be asking what evidence there is of your god (and not only of an existence of a god, but that it is the Christian god).

Evolution is pretty standard stuff. Don't get me wrong, I'm not biologist, but there are principles that are passed onto us in the earlier years of school. Was there any specific things you don't quite understand or have you confused?

RE: I need facts for evolution.
if you have a interest in biology i advise you to read a book or eaven better several books.
what got me interested in biology were behavioral studies. so i started to read several book by Konrad Lorenz .

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Konrad_Lorenz

and later on (less releated to biology) studies by Karl Bühler
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karl_B%C3%BChler

Dont believe that knowlege in biology will inevitable end your religious beliefs. See it is a expansion of your knowlege.
Pick a subject within the wide spectrum biology has to offer, buy or rent books on that subject and read through it or them.
being interested or having knowlege doesn`t mean that you have to become a atheist, gaining knowlege doesn`t mean one has to completly restart life or completly renew ones social surroundings.
i became a atheist as a result of growing up in a half catholic, half protestant family, and thinking a lot about that, and not because of biology studies. i guess there are some people who did become atheist because of biology, but atheism and biology isn`t necesseryly conected
and i guess there are a lot of biologists who are believers

RE: I need facts for evolution.
Welcome from me too. I just want to throw in a couple of cautions regarding discussions of evolution; well, more like point out common and easily-avoidable pitfalls. I realise you haven't mentioned these but if we can get them out of the way now, it should make for a smoother ride later on.

The first thing I want to point out is that evolution is purely a biological process. I know that the term can be applied to other fields, however in those cases it is more of a descriptive use than a scientifically accurate one. For instance, though stars are often said to evolve, it is more accurate to say they change structurally as they age. They don't pop out baby stars containing copies of their star-genes or anything.

That's number one. Number two is about the confusion, often deliberately applied, over the term 'theory' of evolution. In everyday usage, a theory is essentially a guess, educated or otherwise, which stands or falls in the face of the facts. In science, a theory is the highest achievement of a scientific idea; most hypotheses never attain the distinction, and those that do so tend to 'evolve' (see what I did there?) as finer tools yield better information that may not have been known originally.

I hope this will be of some value.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

Quote:The atheist point to scientist, the scientist point to the anthropologist, the anthropologist point to the biologist, and so on. Give me the evidences

And when you get finished with "evolution" go to your preacher and ask about the evidence for your god. Don't be surprised if all they do is point to their silly bible.

Exercise some critical thinking first, before coming here.

When I was a Christian I happily accepted evolution for the demonstrable fact that it is. Many Christians do. Why there are some like you who don't in this day and age is the real mystery. And no, don't pull out the "I had bad education" card. I went to public school too.

It boils down to your own laziness at the end of the day.

Endogenous retroviral insertions are a cold, hard fact that have been proven using scientific principles. They prove that you, me, Angelina Jolie, Adolf Hitler and the Pope share a common ancestor with the chimpanzee down at the local zoo.

HEY, YOU, ATHEISTS. Look, I've studied this shit in depth, man. IN DEPTH. What are the cold, hard facts for atoms, please. Things are made up of little bits?! I don't believe that. You can only fold paper seven times and you can't triple stamp a double stamp. So yeah, no speculation guys. Please make them facts. And it needs to be falsifiable (don't you atheists know anything!!!) How would I disprove atoms, huh? All these atheists do is point to scientists, who point to physicists, who point to stupid equipment. Damn it! I don't want to "see it for my self" or "experiment" (you perverts!), I just want proof. 100%, okay????
