Prohibition vs beer these days, for instance.
Not that it really matters, since fucking people over is sorta the theme of this 'no system' thing.
So you're saying cartels would make less money if it weren't illegal? I get the whole prohibition thing, but slavers and cartelesque gangs would still be a threat.

Presumably they would make less money if these things were legal, but only within the context of some parts of our current system. For example, if we add in the whole "no system" bit we are then presented with the possibility of an organization that, while producing a cheap and easily obtained item, maintains an iron grip on the supply of said item (and therefore value) by force.

Every time I hear about private security forces, I can't help but think of this...

Absolutely.
Quote:I get the whole prohibition thing, but slavers and cartelesque gangs would still be a threat.
Value on human goods is substantially higher when they are harder to 'nap Suddenly allow slavery, and the value on humans drops like a rock. No longer is dealer A the only dealer, and their prices have to remain competitive if they are to remain in business... not to mention how the sellable quantities just skyrocketed.
It's along the same lines as shit like the gold market... if company finds a massive labyrinth of gold, they'll probably blow the tunnel, quietly mark it for longterm use, and pretend they never saw it. Gold prices would plummet, and this would be a horrible move by them (sell more... earn less).
Yes, slavers would be plenty a threat... but their focus would shift off of selling humans, and more on working them themselves. Selling a cute lass for a high price to some sickening bastard is always on the table, though. Yes, cartels will always exist... but they'd spend less time trying to get around the now departed mighty government, and would have more resources to put to use in making themselves stronger. Power war!

This, of course is true, and deserves to be repeated again in the bold. Monopolies and price fixing for the win!

You're a better man than I Rhizo, allowing people to vote and whatnot. I'm all about my way, or the (private) highway.

Just the once, but your campaigne contributions will be appreciated to futher my cause!
This arrangement should save you money on bullets and the economy of scale gained by centralizing road maintenence will allow for a beneficial use of taxpayer money. Also, people won't have to kill each other for the right to maintain the road.

Just another word for Social Darwinism.

Science is like a blabbermouth who ruins a movie by telling you how it ends. There are some things we don't want to know. Important things.
