INTJ, although it means little to me, I'm certainly introverted but beyond that I'm not sure what its attempting to explain
Religion is an attempt to answer the philosophical questions of the unphilosophical man.

I had to take a Myers-Briggs test for a speech class: INTP.

Now, I retook the test: INTJ.

You have strong preference of Introversion over Extraversion (100%)
You have moderate preference of Intuition over Sensing (38%)
You have moderate preference of Thinking over Feeling (50%)
You have moderate preference of Judging over Perceiving (33%)

That test is a horrible deducer of personality 'type.'

Simple "Yes" and "No" answers to not-so-simple questions aren't going to give accurate results.

Yes, it's far too simplistic. Did you run into the same confilctedness on the questions regarding social interaction as I did? (i.e. 20. "You are a person somewhat reserved and distant in communication" In person, yes, here, no)

And then there are the contradictory questions like:
17.You spend your leisure time actively socializing
with a group of people, attending parties, shopping, etc.
as compared to
62.You prefer to spend your leisure time alone or relaxing in a tranquil atmosphere

So if you put yes for both does that mean you spend your leisure time socializing against your will?

If it's worth anything, I am also an INFJ and a permanent atheist. I don't feel all that rare, myself.

Looking at some of the other 'tests' there, I see there's a marriage one to "discover your compatibility". I wonder how many perfectly happy couples might take this stuff more seriously than they should?
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

The difficult /conflicted questions are part if it's subtlety. The analysis behind it is pretty clever I've heard, it was created by a couple of women who did huge anounts of research, and I think the story goes that it was continued by their daughters (going by memory here).

I think the reason why MBTI has so many people who reckon it (myself included) is because of the quality of the profiles it produces - it's like looking in a mirror, warts and all. And it's not Derren Brown psychological trickery/Barnum statements; if you read other profiles it's not like looking in the mirror.

Anyway the reason I posted this question is simply because I saw some amateur research once which although not scientifically weighty, suggested that among english-speaking INTPs (mostly Americans I expect), they were far more likely to be atheists than the general population, in the current cultural environment.

I'm browsing from an iPhone so not easy to amass the results but reading through the responses, note how it's mostly INxx's who've actually taken the test and responded. That in itself is interesting to me.

We also have several INTx's responding, which is statistically very rare among the wider population. Now, this is an Internet forum so maybe it's a bit self-selecting on introverts, lol.

Also, MBTI is based on Karl Jung stuff.

Stimbo, the only reason I pointed to that site is because the test is free and I saw it recommended as credible results. I 'tested' myself first and it produced the same profile I've got every other time I've tested. Ignore any other crap that happens to be there. Smile

I found my results to be inaccurate.
