East Coasters in the US...

RE: East Coasters in the US...
It's currently around 60* here, so I don't think AC will be an issue. We went to the market yesterday and got some perishable items, but mostly non-parishable stuff. Assuming we have power, I'll hit up the market again early this week. Here in the DC area, we simply don't get hit by bad weather often enough to justify buying a generator. But really, all this crazy weather is, I think, attributable to global climate change. We need to prepare for these incidents, but we also need to start a serious discussion about climate change as well.

I'm not sure this particular storm would be the best example (although I'm sure it's that far north because the Gulf Stream still nice and warm all the way up there), but we need a public awakening to the issues of climate change.

Generators have all kinds of uses, but where I used to live, we'd get hit by hurricanes 3 times or more in a typical season. I can see how (as I don't think you guys get hit with that amount of frequency) it might be hard to justify the costs.

Guys, you should really move here to Portugal.
No hurricanes, no extreme weather, no crap.
You get some rain in the fall and winter.... sunshine the rest of the year.... and few exceptions to this rule.

We'll see how extensive the flooding is before we declare it apocalyptical... We had "Snow-pocalypse" a few years ago, after living in Nebraska, that was laughable.

Yeah, over the past few years my state has suffered from four or five 'storms of the decade', 'monster storm 2010', etc. None of said storms turned out to be very bad. Now as for this hurricane...I'm willing to bet it isn't going to be a dud...

Okay, Wall Street is closed, open only for electronic trading... When the capitalists don't show for work, it's time to run around with your hair on fire.
