Consciousness Cycles
#11
RE: Consciousness Cycles
The time has come, the walrus said
To talk of many things
Of shoes, and ships, and sealing wax,
Of cabbages and kings!
And why the sea is boiling hot
And whether pigs have wings...
I <3 Carroll...
Oh, yeah, then the oysters get eaten...
Every last one.

tsk. Drugs. Just say no.

Sounds to me like another cosmic jerkoff trying to sound deep and profound without all that bother of actually doing the work necessary to be deep and profound.

Doesn't sound like the Taoism I know, but then, I'm outside the traditions, and not very knowledgeable.

Didn't Lao Tzu say that the Way is indescribable? There is only the Way, and once one has seen the path, they will always be outsiders to those that haven't, they can't lead to the path, they can't describe the path... the Way lies within the individual, not within the collective... I'm just musing, and having a night filled with Tao...

Yeah, the Walrus and the Carpenter poem is the one I know - the Jabborwocky, not so much.

However, the sad thing is that while I was reading the OP, I got the vision of the Cheshire Cat from the Care Bears version of Alice. The kind with the bouncing head and the 80's-cool voice.

Did anyone else get that thing of drifting into unconsciousness while reading the OP?
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

There's a lot more to it than that. But the ineffable is a mainstay of many traditions, from Taoism, to Mahayana Buddhism, to Christian mysticism.

There are bits and pieces of a lot of religions/philosophies that are good and helpful... I'm of the mind to take what you can use and leave the rest.

Ermagerd! Not aimed at you festive, but that kind of noodly bullshit just chaps my ass like sliding naked down a slide covered in sandpaper! If it is so indescribable how can you tell if you are right? When someone "get's it" they grin and nod and hold their posture just so. That is similar to acid heads trying to out-harcore-trip each other. "No dude, I was like, in a tunnel of vexing square boxes. Then the glowing man opened the akashic dimension to me and the whole of reality was made clear unto me!" Ok, so what can you tell me about reality that will help me in any way whatsoever? "Well, you just gotta love everyone man." Hmm, how quaint, let me guess, when I see the resplendent vistas of Everest in a dream so deep that the abyss seems to swallow the universe like a child popping a Starburst, then and only then will I view the great electron! Pay no attention to the man eating a microwave buritto after huffing bong hit after bong hit on the sofa!

My goal is to immanentize the eschaton through science.

Okay...

So... if you already got reality and life, your sense of purpose, or higher meaning all figured out, then why are you helping us?

Why do you feel the urge to share this "insight" with anyone else?

Undecided
