Child abuse ?

I was watching an interview with Kirk Cameron on YT and as usual i was amused by his 'sincere stupidity' until he quite proudly stated "i'm a dad, i have children".
The 1st thing i thought was oh noo poor kids.
We as adults are able to see through the nonsense he is trying to force on us but his kids aren't.
The thought of him raising kids with ideas like: men walked with dinosaurs, 6000 yr old earth, a talking snake, a banana is proof of god etc ..
Shouldn't we stop calling this freedom of religion and start calling it what it is.
Child abuse.

At the end of the day parents can teach their children whatever diabolical crap they want. Hell parents tell us crap all the time, my mom used to say that I should not pull funny faces because the wind would change and I'd be stuck like it forever (come to think of it maybe she wasn't lying).
It's in the classroom where children should be taught what's what, and frankly I think we should sort that out first before worrying about what bullshit parents want to pass on to their kids.

In America, we seem to value the right to be an idiotic parent over the right of a child to have a proper education.

Do you think there is proper education in your country ?
And i don't mean the US specific but all who read this.
We used to have reasonable schools over here but it is going downhill fast imo.

Same here in Portugal Kous, with all the austerity, they are cutting in healthcare, education, well... everything except the politicians wages OFC

It is not abuse. Therefore, we should not call it abuse. Every single parent on the face of this planet that is actually in his or her child's life teaches it their beliefs with or without knowing it. Are we going to start tearing up families now because parents are teaching children their religion? For it to be abuse, the child has to be hurt in some way. You could argue that the child's opportunities are fewer for believing stupidity, but a poor child's opportunities are fewer. Is being poor child abuse? I'm sorry, but this is as batshit as Christian's telling us what we can say to our kids.

I've seen friends of mine go through a huge amount of psychological problems because their god didn't approve their sexuality ...

I`d like to see someone get a job and actualy be a usefull and productive member of sociaty, when that someone is nothing but a biblequoting, intolerant moron who can hardly spell and has problems understanding the most simple concepts.
If one raises a child to become a completly ideotic moron it isnt raping that child - but it will certainly bring it into a uncomfortable situation in the futur.
Nowhere in this thread did anyone demand that "families should be ripped apart".
But what is knowlege and what is not, shouldnt be determened by a bunch of loons.
Cirliculum should be set by akademics and professionals, and a educational sector should be built arround the concept of bringing forth inteligent and therefor productive members of sociaty.
The possibility of deliberatly raising a ignorant idiot shouldnt exist.

I don't want someone being critical of my freedom of speech or my freedom to peaceably assemble, so we have to be tolerant of others' freedom to teach whatever dogma they follow to their children.
I think the answer is to have a better educational system and perhaps rolling back the homeschooling. At least it gives kids exposure to actual facts, not religious BS.
