I read an interesting article today and I wanted to see what the people here thought about it. Yolanda Spivey was an insurance professional but she had been unemployed for two years. She decided to try a little experiment: Go on monster.com, create a separate profile with a new name, Bianca White, and claim to be a white woman. The result? Her phone was ringing; a lot. And she got e-mails for interviews and everything. The only thing she had to change on her resume to get all this attention was her race (and name, but 'Yolanda' is a pretty black-ethnic name).

I work for one of the worlds largest companies in that industry. If she was looking for work, chances are her CV came across our desk. My company is touted as a market leader in terms of corporate responsibility and ethical behaviour. Time to check our HR records to see if that claim holds up...
