Acknowledging God is not excluding us from the party. Democrats may still be in thrall to Christianity as a voting bloc, but this has not led to Democrats pushing for laws mandating the teaching of fiction in science classes or prayer in school.

Republicans are the party of exclusion. Aside from token candidates, if you are white and rich and male, God bless you. Otherwise, go fuck yourself.

It's a shame that our party can't recognize us without fearing a backlash from the cavemen in the GOP, but that's okay. Time is not on your side.

Theatrical productions of Uncle Tom's Cabin played throughout the nadir (post Civil War and Reconstruction); but since the novel's indictment of slavery was no longer congenial to an increasingly white society, rewrites changed Uncle Tom from a martyr who gave his life to protect the people into a sentimental dope who was loyal to kindly masters. Yeah, it looks pretty clear -- the system involved doesn't consider other races -- only the act of working against one stated race.

Given the perceived appearance of changing the character from heroic to servile, it is understandable that the better phrase is true, as in all likelihood that the movie was made with support of wealthier people. At that time frame, they were probably white (though not completely assured, all things considered).
