No one ever went on a mass murder rampage with a knife or blunt object.

I think I'm starting to sort of get a gist of where the anti-gun crowd is coming from. Of course I believe that the main concern is compassion and the genuine desire to reduce violence. I think to people coming from that perspective murder is such a strange concept, that it's hard to understand that someone who wants to kill people isn't going to be stopped by the lack of a gun. Where as people who own or have owned guns can easily understand that guns don't make you want to kill someone any more. I also think that you can only come to the conclusions that guns cause more violence if you lack a global perspective. There have been tons of rampages with knives and swords. I honestly don't know why people don't know this stuff.

People don't know this stuff because they don't want to know this stuff, Capn. We all want to hope things can be better, and substantially so, by simple dismissal of the problem with easy legislation.

I still haven't really heard any responses to my proposed ideas. I've been hearing a lot of penis jokes and nail-gun jokes...I'm not hearing anything substantial, however. If the UK didn't have such stringent hand gun laws they might have rates approaching our own. Surely you don't think it is their oppressive gun laws which accounts for greater murderous rage than in Switzerland. Commonsense tells us that the availability of guns will lead to more impulsive murders than other weapons. No one ever went on a mass murder rampage with a knife or blunt object.

Incorrect. Looking at the history of rampages under different locales, both guns and knives appear.

China has a tendency of people attempting to knife school children, for example.

The only good use of an example of using knives is that people can more probably swarm and defend themselves as a group.

Gun/Projectile wielding attempted mass killers have a much lower chance of being stopped with a human wave attack (swarming) and can attempt to murder multiple targets in quick succession.

Melee weapons requires one to physically charge and get within close proximity of a potential victim.

Point out the inefficiencies, the differences in chances of successfully escaping a melee weapon owner than a projectile (usually guns) throwing attacker, etc

Anyone can kill, the only difference is the chances of success, the chances of escaping, the effort exerted.
