Saudi Arabia has lingerie shops? I am honesty asking that because it seems quite hypocritical considering women have to walk behind men, and cant vote or drive. I guess the lingerie is ok because it is for the men in the bedroom?

I don't think they wear the burkas in their own homes and I highly doubt they enter the bedroom. I know we make lots of stink about the burka oppressing women and I don't necessarily disagree with that, but there are plenty of Muslim women who love their husbands and want to feel sexy for them. And I'm sure there are plenty of husbands who want to see their lovers in some sexy number. I'm not sure how modesty plays out in the marital bed, but Muslims are still humans.

I am sorry, but the Burka meme was started long ago, and back then, even without burkas most of our species subjugated women and delegated them to bun factories and treated them as property. It is sad to me, even if a Muslim allegedly does it "because I want to", even IF they are not being forced, are buying into a very sexist meme.

Outside the issue of labels, quite a few years ago, back in the late 90s. I met an old southern white couple, and I do not remember how the issue got on gender roles, but the old lady said "It's the man's job to take care of the woman".

And all I could think was, "How convenient for you" and "So you like thinking you cant do what he does".

No, the truth is regardless of sex, we all seek resources. But we are still stuck in gender roles. I am not even against sexy clothing. I am against selling bullshit scripts. Consent is the key factor between ADULTS and that alone is what counts. Not what sexist religious people think should or should not happen.

A group of religious figures in Saudi Arabia have threatened to strike the labor minister who seeks to create jobs for women with “deadly prayers.” They threatened to pray that he gets cancer like his predecessor Ghazi al-Gosaibi, who died of the disease in 2010.

During a meeting at the labor ministry on Tuesday, about 200 religious figures accused Minister Adel Fakeih of executing a “Westernization” plan and asked him to ban women from working in lingerie shops within a month or he will face their dangerous prayers.

But if they are just threatening with prayers, that's a start, look how long it took Christians in the Americas to stop burning witches, inslaving blacks or even giving blacks the right to vote. But we still have some sects of Christianity in the Amish and LDS that treat women and girls like property still.

Yes they do have lingerie shops. And i know its shocking that they cant vote or drive. It's highly against Islam. I honestly don't understand their Islamic basis for not being able to drive or vote.They have some serious cultural issues. Like only a saudi man can marry a saudi women or a saudi women marry a saudi man. Something that is haram is islam.

Well said. Just wanted to point out its not the law in Saudi Arabia to wear the burka. They can leave the house without a burka just have to wear hijab. And at home they can wear what they want. And with muslim sisters they can however i dunno if the saudi government allows that one.

A city in the Indonesian province of Aceh which follows Sharia has ordered female passengers not to straddle motorbikes behind male drivers.

Suaidi Yahya, mayor of Lhokseumawe, says it aims to save people's "morals and behaviours".

Leaflets have been sent out to government offices and residents to inform them about the regulation.

Aceh is the only Indonesian province that follows Sharia.

Under the new regulation, the mayor says that women passengers are only allowed to sit "side-saddle" because straddling the bike seat violates Islamic values.

"When you see a woman straddle, she looks like a man. But if she sits side-saddle, she looks like a woman," Suaidi said.

He added that passengers who sat side-saddle rarely fell off.
