The first amendment provides the Right to Travel.
Why isn't it legal for my Grandma to fly a Rocket Ship solo to Burger King?
I mean, she has some undeniable rights like that.
Now do you understand why the Constituition doesn't apply in this situation?
Because it is a fucking stupid idea.
But the world might explode, so she needs it to escape!!!
That is irrelevant to the discussion.
Take this approach to gun nuts and you will win 100% of the time.

You can take the grandma straps a rocket to her ass approach all you want. I've still got guns. I've still got a permit to carry a gun in most public places in the majority of the states. The current position of SCOTUS is that I have an individual right to have guns unless I do something unlawful to lose that right. My right to have guns is subject to reasonable regulation by the government, but as of now it includes the right to own handguns which are by far the biggest part of the problem. In most states I can own assault rifles, large capacity magazines, short barreled rifles & shotguns, suppressors and machine guns. Huh. What do you know. Looks like the rocket up your ass approach didn't really do much after all did it?

Hope you never make that one little mistake, Pap.
Remember that every moron who blows his own balls off thinks he is a LARGO, too. Right up until he is short one or two balls.

Min, I haven't carried a gun in public in years. The permit just makes it less risky to move my guns from home to the range and back a couple times a week. I just found Mr. Finger's grandma argument a little ridiculous.
I'm all in for universal background checks, mandatory reporting of mental health issues and a host of other ways to keep guns out of the hands of people that obviously shouldn't have them. Those are issues a lot of gun owners would support. Unfortunately extremists on both sides of the issue keep us from making any kind of meaningful progress on effective gun control legislation.
