Try to remember that they...unlike the corporate whore loving shits on the Supreme Court... were talking about a well-regulated "militia."  That had a specific meaning in a late 18th century context.  As of 1903 the country began dissolving the "militia" in favor of the National Guard so the obsolescence of the 2d Amendment dates from that time.  For the record, the 3d amendment is pretty obsolete, too.

The Founding Fathers were merchants and lawyers not clairvoyants.  The marvelous constitution they developed endorsed slavery so don't get all wet in the pants about the Founding Fathers, okay.

They were men of their time....nothing else.

What gun nutters continually forget is having a gun is most likely going to end up hurting you or someone in your own home/neighborhood regardless of the legality of the purchase of the firearm. They see stuff like this and use the bullshit cliche "responsible gun owner". While things like this do happen, even with these types of events it still remains they got their hands on them thinking life is one big Dirty Harry movie.

Brian, you really should stop making stuff up just because you think it supports your argument. Only a small fraction of the guns in the US will ever hurt someone so having a gun is not most likely to hurt you or someone in your home or neighborhood. Yes having a gun in your home increases the chances of a gun related injury to people in that home, but even twice as likely would mean an increase of risk from 0.02% for those living without guns to 0.04% for those without them for any given individual.

There are far to many assholes running around with guns, Min. I agree, but that doesn't make it right to misrepresent the facts about the effects the assholes with guns have on society.

Talking about the "rate" is an attempt to hide the actual body count, Pap.  It's not the "rate" that matters.... it the blood being spattered around needlessly.

When a 4 year old picks up daddy's gun and kills himself it is not the kid's fault.  It's daddy's fault.

I agree, Min. It's daddy's fault. Let's hold him responsible. Negligent homicide works for me. We can even suspend the sentence if daddy is a first time offender. He'd have a felony conviction so no more guns. Legally anyway. We don't tear him away from the rest of the family, and for most being responsible for the death of your own child is a punishment most of us don't want to bear so it's not like he'd be walking away Scott free.
