10 Questions for Christians

RE: 10 Questions for Christians
(October 22, 2008 at 1:13 pm)ManofGOD Wrote: 1,2&6. Suffering is a part of this life. All the saints suffered for GODs name.

Why? Does your god not love us?

(October 22, 2008 at 1:13 pm)ManofGOD Wrote: 3. GOD wants us to be holy, like him. There is a narrow path for good men(Jews, in this case) to follow.

And being good is being like you? Does that include being bigoted? Intolerant? Racist (probably)? Misogynistic (probably)?

(October 22, 2008 at 1:13 pm)ManofGOD Wrote: 4. Science is verifiable and true. Scripture cannot always be taken literally, but still contains divine truth. The earth is as old as science says. GOD created man and all seeming ancestors. The flood is a part of the story of salvation indicative of the end.

So some of your scriptures (the Bible? The Torah?) is literal, some is not? How do you tell which bits are to be taken literally and which are not? How do you know if you've interpreted the various bits correctly?

(October 22, 2008 at 1:13 pm)ManofGOD Wrote: 5. God is not supportive of slavery. The was the nature of man in that day. God did not try to overwhelm man by dictating everything at once.

So your god, implicitly supporting the slavery of the day, is immoral by today's standards or has morality just changed?

(October 22, 2008 at 1:13 pm)ManofGOD Wrote: 7. Remember that most of Jesus's miracles were also done by his disciples. This was how the church spread.

And that answer's the question of why there was no evidence exactly how? If things affect our world (as claimed miracles must do) then they must leave validatable evidence of their passing some of which will be detectable or validatable today ... why is there no such evidence?

Dawkins has likened the spread of religion to that of a virus.

(October 22, 2008 at 1:13 pm)ManofGOD Wrote: 8. God shows his face to the faithful. I hold that 90% of the church does not believe the truth of Jesus's life in their life.

Really? That would be the "no true Scotsman" fallacy!

(October 22, 2008 at 1:13 pm)ManofGOD Wrote: 9. This is to indicate how GOD is in everything around us.

Another interpretation ... how do you know that it is the correct one?

(October 22, 2008 at 1:13 pm)ManofGOD Wrote: 10. The true faithful, who swear before GOD, do NOT divorce.

Again that would be the "no true Scotsman" fallacy!

4. Science is verifiable and true.

8. God shows his face to the faithful.

Quote:Suffering is a part of this life. All the saints suffered for GODs name.

Why is suffering part of this life? What is it's meaning? If god is all powerful and all loving then why would he allow suffering? This seems rather illogical.

Quote:GOD wants us to be holy, like him. There is a narrow path for good men(Jews, in this case) to follow.

You don't require god/religion to be good and moral. This god is nothing more than your imagination. "You" say we are to be holy like your friend in your dream.

Quote:Science is verifiable and true.
Scripture cannot always be taken literally, but still contains divine truth. The earth is as old as science says. GOD created man and all seeming ancestors. The flood is a part of the story of salvation indicative of the end.

So you agree that the earth is 4.5 billion year old? Because this is what science says, also, do you pick parts of scripture that you like the most and call it true and discard the rest? Also the great flood was a natural event not a superstitious one. Religious people of that time looked at everything in a superstitious way.

Quote:Remember that most of Jesus's miracles were also done by his disciples. This was how the church spread.

If this was true, there'd be evidence of it.

Quote:God shows his face to the faithful.
I hold that 90% of the church does not believe the truth of Jesus's life in their life

Over active imagination is all I can say here.

Quote:This is to indicate how GOD is in everything around us.

Evidence please....

Quote:The true faithful, who swear before GOD, do NOT divorce.

Let me correct this -
Quote: "The true delusional, who swear before the spaghetti monster, do not divorce.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence - Carl Sagan

Mankind's intelligence walks hand in hand with it's stupidity.

Being an atheist says nothing about your overall intelligence, it just means you don't believe in god. Atheists can be as bright as any scientist and as stupid as any creationist.

You never really know just how stupid someone is, until you've argued with them.

I'd Agree...but basically I'd say...once you realise how improbable God is, and IF he does exist he's just as likely to be Satan, or the Flying Spaghetti Monster (like you say), or ANY conceivable (or perhaps unconceivable) God....all this speculation is irrelevant and unnecessary...atleast I think it is.
I think the argument from improbability should certainly be ATLEAST the most important one. ATLEAST The 'core' argument.
Correct me if I'm wrong.

3. FSM wants us to be noodley, like him. There is a narrow path for noodleyness (Pirates, in this case) to follow.
4. Science is verifiable and true.
Recipes for bolognese sauce cannot always be taken literally, but still contains divine truth. The earth is as old as science says. His holy noodleyness created man and all seeming ancestors, as well as midgets - after all we are all his creation. The flood is a part of the story of salivation indicative of the digestive system preparing for his meaty goodness.
5. FSM is not supportive of midget slavery. This was the nature of man in that day. The Spaghetti monster did not try to overwhelm man by dictating everything at once.
7. Remember that most of Margaret Thatcher's miracles were also done by her disciples. This was how the Tuberculosis spread.
8. FSM shows his divine Noodle to the faithful.
I hold that 90% of the pirate population does not believe the truth of FSM's life in their life.
9. This is to indicate how FSM is in everything around us, the birds, the trees, the grass, and midgits - especially the midgits, for they are his chosen people.
10. The true faithful, who swear before the meaty sauciness of his holy noodley appendages, do NOT eat pasta with cream sauce.

I could not stop laughing at your response Jason Jarred. In your lifetime, you will be proven wrong, you will see GOD at work and you will fear the LORD and you will know that I am the Risen Christ.
The bible contains essential spiritual truths on how you may be saved.

This is some funny sh1t! I'm having a lot of fun. I find Jason funny but, I'm laughing with him..you're funny too, but I can't help laughing AT you, (or rather ABOUT you) I try not toWink
If I ever offend you then do the Christian thing and forgive meBig Grin
As some Christians once said to the late Bill Hicks: "Hey buddy, we're Christians, we don't like what you said." Hicks simply replied humorously but truthfully: "Then forgive me".

You're Him?

Do you believe we will see the Second Coming in our lifetimes?

Lol thats what I'm thinking...surely he must be joking...surely... I can believe its possible that he's not though...there are certainly a lot of crazy people in this world. And if he really truly believes he IS the Risen Christ then he's almost certainly delusional.

Edit: Put '...' where there was no ending in the sentence.

RE: 10 Questions for Christians
The following options must be considered..

1) ManOfGod is playing Devil's Advocate and just having a little joke with us.

2) He is delusional and really thinks that he is Jesus.

3) He really is Jesus in which case shouldn't he be out there sorting the world out rather than wasting his time on an atheist forum?

JEG overveie det valgmuligheten en er som de fleste sikkert tror du ikke?
