One of the problems encountered in the Yugoslavian war was that the Serbs had been on the 'Good' side so long they collectively could not imagine their actions could be seen as in any way wrong.
If there were no Southerners against slavery the train to Canada could not have existed.
In Britain the last time a captured king was paraded through the streets, Londoners applauded him as a hero, and abused the British army officers. That was the Zulu king who's men had wiped out a whole British army.
Just because the government of a nation is wrong does not implicate all the people of that nation.
