Will there be a church in the future?

The idea that Christianity is shrinking is a myth. Did you actually just give statistics that show Christianity was shrinking, and then say that the idea is a myth? ![]() (January 16, 2013 at 3:00 am)Christian Wrote: Jesus will return to establish his Worldwide Church. So the answer to your question is YES! Then the fuckhead better remember what happened to his sorry ass the first time.... if there even was a first time. As to xtianity....it is even dying - although too slowly - in the US. Albert Mohler, head of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary admits. http://mobile.nationaljournal.com/politi...--20121113 Quote:Second, evangelicals' influence is waning. Conservative Christian ideas are failing to shape the broader culture. More than 3,500 churches close their doors every year, and while Americans are still overwhelmingly spiritual, the institutional church no longer holds the sway over their lives it once did. The sweeping impact of globalization and the digital age has marginalized the church and its leaders. Make sure the last one out turns off the lights. RE: Will there be a church in the future?

Not this again! ...sorry, had a bad experience in a previous thread with someone who didn't understand the difference between absolute numbers and percentages. Yes, you may count those rebellious teens to make up your numbers, but don't forget that these teens grow up to become responsible Christian adults. And that's an undeniable fact. What about the facts that show mainstream Christian churches are declining throughout western and Northern Europe? The dominant Christian sect in England, the CofE, can count less than 10% of the country as active parishioners. You know what 'religious" demographic has seen the biggest growth in England and Wales? Those who have 'no religion' and those that count themselves as 'atheist'. Evidence: http://www.ons.gov.uk/ons/rel/census/201...igion.html Around 59% counted themselves as Christian. A lot, right? Check out the 2001 census: (The ONS data has been taken down from 2001 but it is available to download, just not on an iPad): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_King...1#Religion 72% classed themselves as 'Christian' in 2001. So, from 72% down to 59%. 'Just a myth' right? |
