WTF America? Traditional haggis is banned?

Now, I'm not a massive fan of haggis, but it is nice every now and then. I would use an offal pun, but the article already nailed that one. Tongue

Quote:Traditional Scottish haggis is banned in the United States. With Burns Night looming, how do fans satisfy their taste for oatmeal and offal?

For aficionados, it is the "great chieftain o' the pudding-race".

To sceptics, however, it is a gruesome mush of sheep's innards - and for decades American authorities have agreed.

Authentic Scottish haggis has been banned in the United States since 1971, when the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) first took a dim view of one of its key ingredients - sheep's lung.

Frankiej, I think you should encourage it, false pudding for those who are not the true Doric.

I thought this thread title was a Scottish US immigrant film maker's equivalent of American Beauty. Man was this a let down.

On this point I might agree with the fucking vegetarians.

Haggis is among the best foods known to man.

Yet other innards are okay to be sold. It doesn't really make much sense to me. Lungs are bad, but intestines and livers are damn fiiiine. Wink
