Christianity especially have been prosecuting these free thinkers for almost 2 000 years and when It failed to provide sufficient evidence for growing intellectual populous it started to adapt everything that fitted the creationist myth and excluded everything that did not (sadly almost 99.9% ) And WHEN there was growing evidence to disprove religion entirely and the existence of god that it stated that science is about physical and religion about metaphysical and you cant mix those 2 together 500 years ago when you said the earth is not the centre of the universe youve been stoned tortured and many times killed When you add up the amount of people that died because of religion and prosecution for secular beliefs you would cry So christianity has no moral values neither any religion if it is able to kill a human being because he believes in otherwise There are many more points and examples i could provide but i think i might have made my point. MY point here is when you operate on tumor make sure you get rid of all of it otherwise it will grow bigger and more vicious than before.

You failed to read the bible I suppose.
You are speaking of men's deeds, not a religion's.

Here is something I believe most of us would agree upon...

James 1:27
Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.
.

I would entirely disagree with that. For one, can you tell me why it is that I should consider the bible to be a source of information for your god?

When have I ever implied that?
If you don't think supporting orphans and widows is a noble cause, then you're a selfish ass.

It's stupid comments like this that makes me think you haven't read your Bible... Hint: think new covenant. (dance while you're at it)

"You failed to read the bible" and then referencing a bible passage isn't referencing the bible? And when did I say I wouldn't feel sympathy or provide for a widow and orphan? Where are you pulling this from? Can I not feel sympathy or do good works if I don't do it because the bible tells me so?

I asked you, after you quoted the bible, to tell me why you think the bible is a good indication of moral behaviour. I've read the bible, but if you've got something more that would prove its credentials, I'll be happy to read about it.

Yes but you feel the need because you are still indirectly filled with the true spirit from being in contact with the Christian tradition. Therefore you will still get a dosage of Christ in you you see. And this why you're not sitting in a packed collesum crying out for blood to flow or why you're not a concentration camp guard. But if you want the full dosage you'll have to "convert to Christianity" so you can be born anew, something about not pouring new wine into old wineskins.

Can someone demonstrate this dosage of holy spirit? I've seen research that tells me that empathy for my fellow man is an evolutionary trait found in a number of animals that form groups and societies, but no one's ever been able to demonstrate the holy spirit to me. If someone could do that, it'd honestly be great, seeing a spirit would seriously be the most awesome thing that's happened in my life so far. I mean that with whole hearted sincerity, in some way experiencing a spirit in such a way that I can confirm its existence would be the single greatest event of my life so far.
Unless the answer is "have faith", in which case I'm just going to get annoyed.

Ah no because evolutionary based morality would be something like tribalism or Nationalism. Or a system of Fascism where only the strong survive at the expense of the weak. But now with a dosage of the Holy Spirit in you you feel true compassion for all humanity and particularly the weak and helpless. Not that non-Christian cultures are all always savage bloodthirsty pagans, ancient China was pretty civilised, ancient Greece was pretty couth as well aside from their gods which weren't.

It's not something you can study in a laboratory because it's non-physical, you have to feel it flowing from within you or some shit like that.

Ummm I think you probably have to "become a Christian" (or something else) first before that can happen. But lets just stick with the hard evidence eh? I could recommend some books on Christian mysticism where the subject is all about experiencing spirit/God in such a way. But these have a frightening level of conversion potential if you're sincerly seeking such an experience. I have mystical book on other religions as well and they're all fairly similar. You can have a go with this, it will give you a small taste of the mystic/emotional angle but you ought to still be a stone cold hearted ruthlessly rational atheist by the end of it.

Having faith in the outer exoteric form of the faith is just the outer skin of your progression towards Christ. But then at that point you could delve deeper in the esoteric tradition and so immersing yourself deeper into the ocean of light that is God. But the first thing you have to do for this to work is attain a genuine belief in the supernatural, or something beyond the physical natural world. Without that you fall flat on your face at the first hurdle.

We're diverging paths in this conversation. The remark about not reading the Bible was directed to someone else. Mainly for making a claim about the earth being the center of the universe. Also for making the claim the Bible condones murder for those who don't believe the same...

I had assumed your response was to my quote as I said "Here is something I believe most of us would agree upon..."

Your response to that I thought was "I would entirely disagree with that. For one, can you tell me why it is that I should consider the bible to be a source of information for your god?"

My use of the Bible changes per the person I'm discussing it with.
If an atheist hates my God because of what's in the Bible, I can show how I don't see it as justified.
If a Christian uses the bible to force arbitrary rules and threats of eternal torment, I can show how that belief is unjustified to me.

Do I consider it an authority? Hades no! Your moral compass along with everyone else's moral compass is our authority. (and that is actually in the Bible too, whoda thunk it?)

We on the same page now?

A dosage of the so-called "holy spirit" can be demonstrated by one's willingness to condone human sacrifice and the murdering of 1st born children and other innocents. Fuck that, only a demon could believe that shit was righteous...

I'll take the spirit of Truth any day.
