Thanks for creating a forum with real debate!
RE: Thanks for creating a forum with real debate!
Hey, do you guys think you could condense your responses into like two or three main points and put the in argument form? I don't feel like responding to one single sentence with a paragraph or a page of text. I am happy to write a page, but I have trouble with the one sentence organization. I realize this is a pain.

If you could put your arguments in formal logic or some kind of standard argument form this would make it a lot more interesting. I simply don't have time to write a page for each sentence, and that is what I need to express myself. I would be happy to debate this topic at any length.

I did not mean to insult you at all Mister Agenda, by arguing against atheism. I'm sure we could all get together and have a nice party, and you all are nice people. My kindness is my bluntness.

Thank you for the correction on Fideism.

I will.

On the condition that you do the same.

The reason why I stoped replying to you was because you write such extremly long responses.

Ah yes, the familiar Gish Gallop and argumentum ad TL;DR.

Oh yeah, and argumentum ad nauseum.

Seriously, it's not worth the time to try to unwind such long-winded screeds. If one can't make an argument succinctly, it's probably not as strong or coherent as one might think.

Anyone can be a liar. Could you elaborate more on why an atheist cannot be a 'fidist' or why one would want to be or claim to be one?

You ''fanged'' your quote function.

I never wrote that.

You mean, if my opponents structured their arguments for the convenience of my rebuttals, I might be more successful?

Damn. That explains why I lose all these debates.

You're quite right, my apologies. That quote should have been attributed to jstrodel.

I try to keep my responses short, but you throw out a lot of things to respond to, so even with short responses I wind up with a long post filled with short responses. Can you meet us halfway and try to stick to one or two points per post, please?

Sometimes we need more space to express ourselves as well.

You are right, people tend to be more courteous in person, where we can see each other's facial expressions and hear tone of voice. We could communicate better over a cup of coffee. The internet fosters getting carried away. People are as good as their last post with me, though, I try to respond to a polite post politely, even if I was offended by an earlier post. Just keep in mind that when you say something about all atheists, you can offend ones you really didn't mean to include. I acknowledge you're equally entititle to be offended when someone says something about all Christians that doesn't apply to you. And you're welcome, now I wish I had pointed it out more kindly.

I can't even be arsed to read the last four pages of this thread. Clearly the Christians on it are creating the requirement for us to get some Venn diagrams up in this bitch.

Atheism is a blank slate position. If I wanted to express the things I actually cared about, I'd call myself a humanist. A skeptic. A naturalist. A centerist, politically. You know nothing about me except that I don't believe in a god, with the atheist label.

Otherwise I'll assume that you are a foaming at the mouth, bible-thumping, gay-hating (probably secretly homo yourself) sort of Christian.

Corrected to the original author, jstrodel.

Next time, please report the post. It would've evaded detection had I not browsed here today.

Me on the other hand, I'd likely have stabbed him in the face with a fork after 30 seconds.

Damn I like a woman with passion. The fact that you'd use the fork shows you care. (You know what they say, spare the fork and spoil the theist.) Are you quite certain you're gay and not just holding out for some fine old vintage tom cat?
