@OP: Because it's bloody hard to make a decent conversation out of: "I don't believe in gods. Oh, you neither. Well..". Religion (in this case) has so much more to offer Big Grin
When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura

Sound like either you dont have anything witty to reply or cannot build up a logical argument for a reply - hence you are insecure through lack of intelligence

Or you lack knowlege of the english language - hence insecure through lack of lingual skill

At the time of writing, the number of posts on this site are:

atheism: 1559
religiion: 3186
philosophy: 403

Religion is the clear winner, beating even the other two combined. Seems quite odd to me.

If I was an atheist, religion would be the last thing I would talk about.

So why is religion so popular here? Is it because Atheism is fundamentally empty, and correspondingly has no topics to discuss within itself?

(I suppose I could understand it better, if the discussion about religion was at least accurate and informed, but in my experience thus far it is anything but accurate and informed)

Dont say - "oh its because religion has such power over my life", because unless you like in Saudi Arabia or Iran, thats an absurd thing to say.

Look forward to hearing your point of view.

Why? 9/11, the Dark Ages, pedeophile priests, Muslims in Pakistan burning Christian houses. Christians blaming gays and liberals for Katrina.

Not to mention no one in human history has one lick of evidence for their invisible friends.

If I murdered someone because I thought Mickey Mouse was real, you'd put me in a rubber room. But claim a non material magical super brain with super powers and start a cult based on it, people call that a virtue.

As long as people are willing to kill over religion, it would be stupid to take your eyes off of it.

You didn't make any valid arguments, hence I thought you sounded insecure. You still sound insecure.

As for the English language, a bit rich advising me on it since you're a German who probably doesn't have English as a first language.

I made these right in my first post on this tread.

So either you are an ignorant fool who doesnt even confront himself with the challenge of opposition.

Or you dont bother to answere because you are an arrogant basterd who sees everyone as infirior

Or reading is something you consider boring

then you should learn the definition of the word "insecure" and not simply use it when ever you think that the meaning you attributed to it might fit into your uninteresting and worthless replies

Personally, I find religious beliefs interesting. I'm not sure why being an atheist means that I shouldn't want to discuss it.

Plus it is fun to see all the various ways atheists try to malign belief, misrepresent religious doctrine, display their own vulgarity and anti-religious bigotry, and flail about trying to support ethics and meaning within an absurd and indifferent reality.
