Yes of course. It MUST be anything except what it seems to be! Nearly all of the knee-jerk scientific speculations, including DMT release, have been ruled out. Nor do any scientific explanations account for various ESP related phenomena that commonly accompany NDE events.

RE: Near Death Experiences
My girlfriends father was in the hospital at some point in his 20's and he apparently died for something like 72 minutes.

I want to talk to him more about the experience to get more detail but from what I have heard, the was no god per se but he did have visions of his as-yet unborn children and other things that made him want to "come back".

This is an incredibly intelligent man. I have no explanation for this event but in my mind, I believe it had to be a deep coma or something similar.

Nevertheless, I can certainly understand how it could be perceived as a supernatural event.

I do have numinous experiences.

They are just very subjective things to describe.

So is everything else... but that doesn't stop teenagers from posting facebook messages about them getting a diet coke.

Why thank you for your mighty contribution to a thread about near death experiences.

I have been left... enlightened.

Ever tried asphyxiation before, buddy? I hear it can be...

Erotic.

Lily said something that would make me think that, although I wonder if it's the effect of being drowned that causes that?

Presentation, and personal psychology. Given one input, my output is X. Given that same input, your output is Y.

When I realize it's over, I rarely continue attempting to escape in vain, instead embracing the end... or fighting it head on. Suddenness invites more panic (if a jump scare in a movie gets to you at all... imagine if it's in real life)... but this is often more a state of alarm than of fear.

An induced terror... on the other hand... where you have known this is coming, you have known you can't escape it, you have known you can't fight it, where you are so perturbed by it that you cannot embrace the gruesome end that is coming for you: there is no exit, there is no escape, but the fear is too great to just give in. All that's left to fight for is an earlier exit than the one coming for you (suicide), hopefully one less horrible.

Plenty of people have come closer to death than me and lived... but there's plenty who didn't make it. Wouldn't it be fascinating to interview the dead over what their last few hours were like? Smile

To think that we think we know so much as that!
