As they are supposed physical beings, if they exist, then one day you'd expect one caught. We'll never catch "a god" will we, seeing as though gods are immaterial, other dimensional beings that do not manifest in any described physical way.
You are currently experiencing a lucky and very brief window of awareness, sandwiched in between two periods of timeless and utter nothingness. So why not make the most of it, and stop wasting your life away trying to convince other people that there is something else? The reality is obvious.

Historically, angels were nasty creatures, more terrifying than comforting. But they've been rehabilitated. I suspect from the wording and the need to control the format of his presentation, our "atheist" is just a theist on a fishing expedition. samiam2013's Forum Info ![]() ![]() (March 27, 2013 at 4:49 pm)apophenia Wrote: Funny, I got exactly the same vibe.

Hallucinations happen. You say it was just before losing people, were either of them sick at the time? Stress can make our brains do some crazy shit you wouldn't believe. When my grandfather was in a psychiatric hospital a couple of years following a few suicide attempts, I started having some weird hallucinations, like I'd hear an outgoing ring tone (you know, the sound you hear when you're showing someone) out loud several times a day, and once I was going to have a shower and noticed a bunch of ladybirds crawling all over the window. It wasn't like I just saw them for a second out of the corner of my eye, I stood there.and counted them and had a think about what to do. I decided to have my shower quickly and deal with them after. I turned away to turn on the shower and looked back around and they were all gone. I must have hallucinated them.
Basically, hallucinations are common and seem totally real and indistinguishable from real life, and angels... Well, angels don't exist. Is there a solid argument for why seeing angels is a delusion? (he was illiterate, believed in god, and went to church while living a simple life as a carpenter) Since your grandfather is apparently an expert on angels, could you ask him this question, which nags at me incessantly: When an angel wants to fly, does he/she (it?) actually have to FLAP its wings like a bird, or does it simply EXTEND its wings and point one or both arms upward and just take off (like Superman does)? Or, are they actually capable of instantaneously disappearing and reappearing wherever they choose, and the wings are merely for decoration? Is it a coincidence that when the bible was written, the only beasts capable of real flight (birds) had wings, so that when angels were described as being able to “descend” from heaven, they were attributed wings also? I just can't stop thinking about these things...

Human beings are very good at self-delusion, and if they have a predisposition to not questioning those delusions, they're more likely to take them at face value. As for angels themselves, well... If they DO exist, I take it that they look like this: (big image) And if they look like that, I'm going to make it my life's goal to be a specialized Angel Fall From...Grace...Er. Yes.
