So.. I'm watching a movie, thought I'd check out the old thread. I totally believe that the title of the current thread sums up completely, this post. Now. Back to it. Whose gonna pull out sheepie or sock puppet first in the new debate? Bets, ladies and gentlemen?
Catfish says: You are avoiding my question....
"What's your point? Is there a directive somewhere that says I must believe everything?"
I and the Father are one... :-)
What say you about who I am? I will be who I will be becoming..
You may not agree with or understand this, but here goes:
Sacrifice was never commanded by God, the Bible has recorded where He stated numerous times that He hated sacrifice and burnt offerings. Human sacrifice was NEVER condoned, you should know this. God could atone for sin any way He wanted and He has directly attoned for sin using another method according to the Bible.
You called me a phony Christain, you avoided my challenge.
Now prove I'm not a Christian.
When you can prove that I'm a phony Christian, then will it be "answered".
Patiently awaiting your deflection and denial...
I have never once called it the "word of god", pay attention to what I write...
YOU read the thing for yourself...
Simon Moon Wrote:
In your opinion or beliefs, does the Bible contain ANY truths?
Yes...
YOU read the thing for yourself...
Still avoiding backing up your claim? Typical...
1. What does that have to do with being a follower of Christ's teachings?
2. Every point I make is from the Bible, where is yours from?
Still haven't proven anything...
Show me which parts of the Bible you would use to call me a phony Christian. I dare you...
Am I missing something here? Is there some hidden meaning you're not telling me?
Both.
It does not have to be one or the other. Prove to me that it does.
You gotta stop with this whole "Word of God" thing unless your "Word of God" calls itself that and you can prove it. Remember, it's INSPIRED...
You say it can't be both? Then I have a question for you: Do you hallucinate often?
Your question is silly and irrelevant if you can't concede that the Bible can be both inspired and not...
If you want me to address your question, then address mine... Prove to me that I'm a phony Christian, I'll be waiting for ions I bet.
Do you deny that something can be a percentage of your desired X or not X?
If you wish to deny that reality, then I'll just assert now that you're a crazy moron who believes his visual hallucinations are 100% accurate.
(unless you admit to hallucinating)
Then theres a whole lot of answer my question, --prove I'm not a christian--, I already did, --no you didn't--, Yes I did, --inappropriate hand signal--, That's the hand signal you do when you're reading the bible, --prove it--, no one wants him to, then there's more of the same, --prove I'm not a christian--, I already did, for a couple pages..Followed by:

Yahweyistheway Wrote:Unless you can honestly say "yes", you have two options, pick one:
1. The Bible IS the Word of God
2. The Bible IS NOT the Word of God.
There is no "sorta-kinda" option.
I don't treat the LORD'S WORD as some kind of buffet table where I can pick and choose the things I like.
Catfish says: You are avoiding my question....

Yahweyistheway Wrote:Actually, I answered yours and you avoided mine.
You don't believe the Bible is the Word of God.
If you insist on dismissing parts of scripture will claiming revelation in others, you commit the logical fallacy of special pleading.

Yahweyistheway Wrote:Still in denial, I see.
To help you out of denial:
1. You deny the Bible is the Word of God
2. You make up your own religion as you go along.
Dumb ass phony Christian!

Yahweyistheway Wrote:...because outside the Bible, we learn about Christ's teachings from...?
Which you say isn't the Word of God and parts of it are "that shit".

Show me which parts of the Bible you would use to call me a phony Christian. I dare you...

Am I missing something here? Is there some hidden meaning you're not telling me?
Yahweyistheway Wrote:Just the meaning that's right there in black-and-white. Unlike you phony Christians who pick-and-choose and make up religions as you go along, both of which you've admitted to doing, I read what's there.
As I said before, what is there is either
1. The Word of God
2. Not the Word of God
Make up your mind.
Both.
It does not have to be one or the other. Prove to me that it does.
Yahweyistheway Wrote:If the Bible was originally inspired by Yahweh but he didn't pay close attention to the details, the whole needs to be regarded as "not the Word of God" since we have no way of telling what parts are divine and what parts are human.
...and this brings us back to the whole, "how do you know what parts are divine? Are you God?" issue that you kept dodging earlier.
This is why there's no "sorta, kinda, you see, it's a little of both and yet neither one" option.
You gotta stop with this whole "Word of God" thing unless your "Word of God" calls itself that and you can prove it. Remember, it's INSPIRED...

Yahweyistheway Wrote:And what's the percentage exactly? And you can tell the difference between the inspired parts and the human contamination how? Are you God? This is the question I keep asking and you keep ignoring.
Yahweyistheway Wrote:What? Are there glowing letters in the parts where it is God's Word? Are there footnotes or some other indication? What distinct characteristics should the reader look for?
If you're answer is nothing better then "you just know", then you are relying upon your own imagination and desires. Just write your own book and make up your own religion and be done with the pretense that you are a Christian.
And those who think for themselves have no need of religion. That's why I'm proud to be a thoughtless Christian.

If I were to create self aware beings knowing fully what they would do in their lifetimes, I sure wouldn't create a HELL for the majority of them to live in infinitely! That's not Love, that's sadistic. Therefore a truly loving god does not exist!
Dead wrong. The actions of a finite being measured against an infinite one are infinitesimal and therefore merit infinitesimal punishment.
I say again: No exceptions. Punishment should be equal to the crime, not in excess of it. As soon as the punishment is greater than the crime, the punisher is in the wrong.
Quote:The sin is against an infinite being (God) unforgiven infinitely, therefore the punishment is infinite.
