"Capitalism: A Love Story"...Michael Moore's latest film.
September 7, 2009 at 3:23 pm
Moore's latest film, just premiered at the Venice film festival should be worth a view!
It's about the evils of capitalism, which the film portrays as:-
" a wily old philosopher intent on lining the pockets of the few at the expense of the many. America, enthuses a leaked Citibank report, is now a modern-day " plutonomy " where the top 1% of the population controls 95% of the wealth "
Moore's conclusion is:-
" Capitalism is both un-Christian and un-American, an evil that deserves not regulation but elimination. "
I'll drink to that!!
Can't wait to see it ( oh and the film too )
A man is born to a virgin mother, lives, dies, comes alive again and then disappears into the clouds to become his Dad. How likely is that?

Well at least for once he's not being a hypocrite:
Quote:In order to spark the erosion of capitalist standbys, Moore has insisted that upon release, no one use currency to see the film. He suggests to instead either pirate it or barter for tickets. He indicated in an interview that one live chicken should cover one person, or a bushel of corn for the whole family.
I do hope the camera men get an equal share of the profits as socialism demands...oh, and don't forget the makeup girls, and the people who make the tea! These people are going to be millionaires..oh wait...no, that's not right.

Wow, I must see this film! Every other film he has made trumpeted beliefs I already held and fleshed out better reasons to hold them. It will be interesting to watch a Moore film that goes totally against what I believe and see how I feel at the end. I've always said that his films are kind of a waste of time because the only people who ever watch them are either people who already agree with what he is going to say, or people who are there to proove they will not be swayed. I like to think I am more open-minded.
Although if the movie is against pure capitalism then I would have to agree because any economic system has to have a balance between social systems and free market motivation. Pure capitalism provides no solution to rampant externalities, so the government must intervene.

Michael Moore is a radical left winger. He's so crazy. Some of the things he says has some truth to them and other times it's pure propaganda from his paranoid mind. I never liked any of his films and I think he's a total moron. He and Rush Limbaugh should get together since opposites attract..they are the same it's just that they are on opposite sides of the spectrum.
I don't buy that he's against capitalism. Does he not realize he's as rich as he is because of capitalism? Yeah what does he care if people pay for this film since he already has money. What is so wrong with making millions off of a film? Isn't that the point? To make money? So what if someone is a success..if they worked for it then great for them!!!

Actually no. I have never been able to get into Family Guy but that is hilarious that I called that one. I'm a King of the Hill fan.

DLF,
Obviously he is being extremely disingenuous with his statement about bartering for a ticket. It was probably said just to provide a quote to add credence to his apparent anti-capitalist agenda without actually costing him anything. If he was truely interested in people obtaining his movie for free he could very easily post the whole thing up on the web via Hulu or some other hosting site where it wouldn't even cost him anything.

Where does your quote come from?
You don't need to be a pauper to condemn rotten system like capitalism.

Why am I not surprised you're no fan? Watch it and mabe you might just learn something.
Oh, and what things does the " total moron " say that you agree with?

I thought it was nice he would dig up dirt on a dirty politician and then make a movie about it. Then in that same movie he went completely off in left field and started talking about how Bush knew about 9/11 and he helped design the attacks. How can anyone take someone like that seriously? I believe Bush was dirty and did a lot of bad things but I do not believe he knew about 9/11. Even if he did Michael Moore wouldn't have access to that information. Like he's anyone special! He spews a bunch of propaganda he drums up in his fat head. Basically he's in the shock factor business and he uses our political issues to sell movies. There's enough people in America to actually buy into his crap and believe what he says. In Bowling for Columbine he tried to say that those kids killed their classmates due to Americas love of guns. Are you kidding me? Those kids were a bunch of weirdos and their classmates made fun of them for being so socially withdrawn. It's not the fault of American gun owners. I don't see how anyone can listen to someone so radical.
Learn something? No...I'm not into learning propaganda from some Hollywood idiot.

Michael Moore is a left winger? So what if he is? Why use that as an insult or to dismiss what he has to say? That's a completely unnecessary ad hominem attack.
I dismiss him on the basis of WHAT he says, not WHY. Viz: He's a dishonest, nasty little cunt AND full of shit.NOT full of shit BECAUSE he' a dishonest, nasty little cunt.
I first saw Mr Moore on some appalling TV show. I then saw that film about Flint Michigan. Then "Bowling For Columbine "and "Fahrenheit 9/11".Mildly amusing as entertainment, but essentially disingenuous and downright dishonest polemics preaching to to the converted.
I'd' go so far as to call him the Left's answer to Rush Limbaugh or a wayyy down market Penn Jillette. At least he presents himself as such; a clown who thinks he's a gladiator.
Michael Moore is living proof that no one ever went broke underestimating public taste or stupidity.
Of course I'll watch his new movie;as long as I don't have pay for it. Looking forward to deconstructing it.
