It's true. After a three day stint on gta 5 last year I went and stole a submarine.

I played violent videogames and I suffered bullying, I guess I wasn't that violent eh? I think I never hit anyone my whole life, and unlike many friends I never jokingly stole groceries from the supermarket.

The case when I get violent is when someone makes me cross the line between sanity and insanity, or when I am at eminent danger.

These studies are a load of bull.

It's more likely this is the case:

Indeed as Insanity said on page 1, getting angry usually has to do with the difficulty of the game, not how violent it is. And it shouldn't even need to be brought up how much the whole 'video games cause violence' bullshit has been debunked.

I'm pretty much the reverse version of this claim: a quick perusal of my dvd and game collection will show that I do love violence and gore in my media. In real life, I'm a strict pacifist who utterly abhors any form of violence. I've never even been in a fight, never thrown a punch, certainly never felt any need to emulate my games, and I've been playing them since way before they were age appropriate for me. Tongue

In that case, I wonder how many murders can be pinned on Super Meat Boy.

I read some report recently that explained that the biggest cause of frustration and violence was from bad game mechanics. From personal experience I'd say that's the same for me. If I get beat fair and square I'm fine, if I loose because I got stuck inside a cardboard box or because my character isn't moving intuitively then I'm probably going to be pissed off.

Just found it:

http://www.ibtimes.com/recent-study-find...ce-1569609

Article Wrote:The trial found that games altered to have counter-intuitive, difficult controls that led to feelings of incompetence produced anger and aggression, not the content of the game itself, regardless of how violent it was.

"We focused on the motives of people who play electronic games and found players have a psychological need to come out on top when playing," said Dr Przybylski. "If players feel thwarted by the controls or the design of the game, they can wind up feeling aggressive.”

More or less exactly what I was saying. Nothings worse that feeling out of control in a game.

I never played BioShock, but man, when I saw the trailer for it on TV, and they played Bobby Darin's Under the Sea, I fell in love with it on the spot.

That said, one of the best things I've ever done (and still do) in video games was in Battlefield 2. I loved driving around in a jeep looking for wandering enemies. Then when I spotted one I'd speed up and slam on the horn, right before I ran him over. I always though that was fucking hysterical. Still do it.

In real life, I, at 41, have one traffic ticket to my name and can probably count the number of times I've been pulled over on one hand. I'm just that good/safe of a driver.
So Battlefield 2 has had zero impact on my real driving.
